  1. buddy had a shack break loose in that wind once..... took it 600 yards down the lake..... What a nightmare that was to push back.... Anybody ever skate up there? if you get out early in the year before its all snow up its amazing skating..... I have also seen the kite boarders and skiers up there as well.... that looks like a blast.
  2. I am strangely looking forward to a bit of icefishing this year...... that novelty will where off the first time I have to chase my toque 6 miles down spray in the wind..... Esleech those pics almost look like its not windy..... can't be the spray lakes I know
  3. I still think it looks suspicious......
  4. call fish and wildlife..... sounds suspicious to me. If nothing else it will atleast be recorded by them that way..... Those guys are actually pretty clever if its a poached bear they will likely be able to determine that but the sooner they see it the better
  5. Not true weedy I took a girl out the other night..... never heard of fly fishing before but of course I brought it up (idiot I know)..... she wanted to see how it worked yadayada so we go out to the lake and I punch a couple overheads, couple rolls, couple continuous action casts, a few snake rolls, double speys ect trying to show off right..... I hand her the rod and she pumps a 30-35 foot overhead perfectly first try.... I strip a bit hand it back to her to shoot some line poof she drops about a 40 footer turns to me and says "man don't you get bored doing this"....... That was our last date
  6. Teach you how to cast? No problem. POOF done.... edit In all seriousness I don't like to lecture people so I don't but if anyone including you ever wants tips from me (I have no idea why) you just have to ask.....
  7. Hell of a guy Glen thats the only reason I fish with him.
  8. I have been doing a lot of that stuff just for fun most of the time (and I imagine pretty poorly)..... I find that little of the really fancy stuff is used much when actually fishing but sometimes the more basic ones like the snake roll, single spey, snaps and stuff can be really handy.....I like working on some of the fancier ones just because it makes the simpler ones feel even easier when they are needed while fishing..... This style keeps the fly on the water.. I would have to say an enourmous % of the casts that I make are roll or spey casts. Keeps me more outta the water and allows you to approach fish differently then if you were wanting to overhead cast..... As Brent mentioned he was likely using a shooting line but a regular line can produce very similar casts but with a bit less distance......
  9. LOL I still feel bad about just showing up for the bbq so I was glad I could help out on the grill. Also (hangs head in shame) they even let me win a shot glass in the raffle...... And miraculously there was a bottle of whisky for me to test her out with.... saved me from another moment of total sobriety it did. Thanks Pipestone and Wongrs for setting things up and thanks to everybody that was out cleaning that day.
  10. Anytime we playin fer pinks tho' Biootch
  11. hmmmm Funny I still don't want one......... LOL unless they got a 4x4 edition
  12. I think this depends heavily on your rig...... Not sure if there is a rule of thumb but I find all lines have a sweet spot that changes depending on the rod its casted on..... the same line on my noodley 6wt dragonfly seems to have a noticibly different sweet spot then on my 10ft g loomis which is a stiff high line speed rod...... That said I think it also depends on the goal of the cast..... and the amount of weight you are casting..... Sorry wish I had a better answer for you....... PS I'm a hack so don't listen to me
  13. You guys are in for a treat on Sunday. Gordon is a excellent teacher........ He had to beat a couple of points into my head but in the end he showed me a lot and even had me casting a little ways. Thanks Gordon and thanks TM for letting me test out your lines and reels and stuff. I now have a good idea as to what I need to outfit my rod with...... Then I can get out and really chop some wood
  14. Always found wedge was a matter of patience with bigger grayling as the reward. Quarry usually has more action but an smaller average size.
  15. Speyghillie. I hope my reply made it to you if not I have the details and the meeting place and will see you friday morning!
  16. Ahhh so many cracks but they all verge on crossing the line...........
  17. You woulda been let down it was just a photoshop job of a cats head and paws on a man holding a fish..... kinda funny. You could just google images cat fishing
  18. never mind link didn`t work
  19. wow great pics guys! HD that cutty is real sweet. As for the fishing I would say mornings this time of year can be a real crapshoot...... specially for cutts on those smaller rivers..... I think the smaller creeks like those fluctuate in temps quite a bit so the cold nights drop the water temp..... long and short of it is sleep in and fish late......
  20. SG I sent you a pm
  21. wow thats a trip to remember...... does your hiking partner still talk to you or is he afraid you will ask him to go on another hike. Anyways that wolverine is really neat I have never seen one in the wild and I am glad the 2 of them left you guys alone. Love seeing reports from you as they are always extreme great pics and send your buddy a Gift certificate for a foot massage he deserves it after what you put him though
  22. so is the double post an attempt at quadrupling your chances?
  23. I like em both....... I would be interested to know how the rubber leg haresear works as it looks pretty buggy
  24. HMMM well If anything to me it resembles a backswimmer of sorts...... but the ribbing at the back seems outta place as well as those brown strands...... it also looks to me as if it had a tail at one point...... it would be different then most shrimp patterns I know but that could be what it imitates..... maybe but then the bouble biots would be really outta place and the copper ribbing and those brown strands.......... tough to say could be like SJW said some kinda light baetis or callibaetis (sp) http://royalgorgeanglers.com/shop/images/S...Callibaetis.JPG me thinks maybe callibaetis althou I would still have to say the biots are kinda weird.....
  25. sorry I hope it didn't sound like I was trying to guilt trip you or anything.... I don't imagine that there would be time to fill a lesson for friday and the demand for a weekday lesson would be pretty low I am sure...... and I wouldn't want to steal a days fishing from you to teach 1 person either especially when you don't get the chance to fish much in canada....... But if you think we can work something out I am likely available friday and if you are planning to spey cast anyways I would likely be game to just pay to tag along and get a few pointers..... I learn best from watching and applying anyways and that way you could still fish..... But if you want to just fish and you figure you may be back again sometime to do another clinic then I am happy to just wait till the next time...... Anyways I don't want to put you out on account of me so if it doesn't work or it doesn't fit your plans don't worry about it. I have many many years to learn spey casting. That and I have a tentative trip planned for thurs, friday to the N ram but its not written in stone
