  1. I think I'm going to be going with a Wachter net. I can get a River Master shipped here with a curly maple handle for $120 and I really like their mesh pattern for their clear rubber bags. Handmade in Texas should do the trick.
  2. I guess my message sounded negative towards Country Pleasures and it wasn't meant to. I live in Red Deer and I'm thinking of coming into Calgary on Sunday and I want to check out a Brodin Ghost net, but CP is closed on Sundays. That's all, not a vendetta against them or anything. Good to know, I like Fishtales a lot. Do you have the ones with the new lighter bags? If so, do you notice a significant difference is weight?
  3. Does anyone know if anyone other than Country Pleasures carries the Brodin Ghost nets?
  4. I assume you're talking about the wave net. I'm not really so much looking to dramatically reduce weight as I don't really need the bulk of a long handle. My reasoning for not like the wave is primarily because I think it looks ugly, but also because I'm looking to get a net with a rubber bag.
  5. Thanks for the input guys. I'm probably going to go with a regular (shorter) handle just for backpacking/portability purposes. I do fish from a pontoon on occasion but I will probably just do what I did with my last net and attach a longer handle when needed. It's nice to know that the Fisknat is durable as that is important for me.
  6. I'm looking into buying a new rubber mesh net and I had a couple questions. I was originally looking into getting either a Brodin Ghost Gallatin or a Fisknat San Juan. I've heard almost nothing but good things about the Brodin Ghost nets, but has anyone tried the Fisknat nets? My other question is Bass Pro Shops has a comparable Frabill net for SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. Here's the net: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...5003000_175-3-5 Has anyone tried these? Also, does anyone know if the Calgary Bass Pro carries these? Thanks for any help.
  7. I have one of the 5 weights and it is a beautiful rod. Still haven't cast it yet (stupid winter), but I'll hopefully hit up the Bow or Stauffer within a week or two and take it out.
  8. Yeah, I'm definitely getting the shakes.
  9. Man, I wish that was available when I went to high school/college.
  10. Those are really good man. I absolutely love the grizzly.
  11. Video looked good and worked. That shark is also pretty sweet.
  12. As much as I want to say "Sweet" and "Awesome" I kind of hate you a little inside.
  13. Maybe you missed the scenario. He's gone for long periods and is just looking for someone to help his wife out with the 3 kids. They aren't ignoring their responsibility and getting a nanny to raise the kids.
  14. Another awesome video, thanks for posting. Man, I'm already hating winter...bad.
  15. I person gets a bit discouraged with this board sometimes with some of the bickering and negativity, but damnit there are some decent people on here.
  16. If it's anywhere near as serious an issue as the majority of the scientists believe (rightly or wrongly and I know you don't agree) than cost doesn't really matter. Furthermore, I mean, *hit will get more expensive and everyone will complain, but they'll still have their flatscreen TVs and pickup trucks. I don't think the world is going to come crashing down because people have to make some sacrifices.
  17. Hahaha, nice. Just what I needed on this cold evening.
  18. I think that purchasing a good piece of meat is probably more important than how you prepare it. Ensuring that you have a quality piece of beef easily makes all the difference in the world. Preperation, on the other hand, is really all personal taste and as long as you do it properly (ie. overcook) it is likely to turn out fine. Ensuring the quality of a steak is also just as much about where you buy it from as which specific cut it is. My personal favorite is a thick New York Striploin.
  19. Avalanche, I think I speak for everyone who wanted to get a hold of that rod when I say we expect a bit of a review from you when you get a chance to try her out.
  20. Here's my Escape. Obviously I need to get a good roof rack system for it.
