Gotta disagree on this, if the Canucks would have won or lost lastnight there would have been a riot regardless. When you have a group of punks coming down there with crowbars, masks, rags and gasoline wearing Canucks jerseys - you know that they aren't there to cheer on their hockey team. It sucks as a Canucks fan, and even more as a Canadian to have a black eye like this on every news network around the globe. I gotta hand it to the Bruins, they had the grit to get it done and were the better team. With that being said, I'm still proud of the Canucks, they had a hell of a season and am looking forward to next year. Cheers, Buck -

2nd and 3rd period the canucks took it to them, it seemed the sharks took their foot off the gas once they were up 2-1. Good to see Sedin get the game winner! -

I guess I see taking pictures as different point of view. I lug around more camera gear than the average fishermen (DSLR body, 2 lenses, filters, tripod, etc), I carry that gear not JUST for taking pictures of fish - more for taking photos of landscapes & wildlife that I encounter on the way. As for the reason of taking photos of fish, it is simply so that I have something to look back on when I'm an old man to remind me of my younger years. Something that I can share with my family or friends. A properly taken photo can put me back in that moment of time, it allows me to remember what exactly was going on that day (the weather, where I was, how the fishing was, etc) - so I see absolutely nothing wrong with taking pictures of fish...if done the right way (not laying the fish down in the rocks & mud, having them out of the water for extended periods of time, etc). As for posting the pictures, I generally like to do one photo post at the end of the year highlighting all of the special moments for that year. To me it doesn't seem like an ego boost, it is more of sharing those experiences with others who weren't there. It's a shame that people have been trashed on the boards for sharing photos, to the point where they don't post anymore. As for the whole extending the arms while holding the fish - well I don't know if I agree with the original post either. If you have a decent camera that allows you to control the aperature (how wide of an opening for light to come onto the sensor) , then extending your arms helps seperate the fish from the background (the fishermen, the bank, etc.) and in turn creates a bokeh effect (blurry background with an in focus foreground). It also helps make the fish the focal point of the photo, instead of the fishermen cuddling the fish like it is a baby. You get that much more detail of the fish - which is kind of the whole point of taking a picture of a fish sometimes. That's not to say that extending the arms makes the fish look bigger, I'm not denying that. But I think anyone who has looked at enough fish porn can tell how big the fish is regardless of how it was held. My 2 cents.

Suck it NUCK haters, good luck to all you Habs fans tomorrow - would love to see them move on. -
I'll second the Force Fins, I was fortunate to find a pair used for $100. When I did try them out, I found I spent way less energy kicking around. I saw them for 179.00 at Wholesale today.

Dslr Lens Recommendations

All depends how much faith you have in people over the interwebs.....I purchased mine on http://photography-on-the.net/ forums - I made sure the guy that I bought from had a reputable seller rating and provided pics of the lens. Kijiji is also a good bet as well, just need to have patience and check it everyday for the lens your looking for! -
Dslr Lens Recommendations

Not sure if this is the same point that Weedy was trying to make, but I suggest buying used. Its amazing how much a few nicks and scratches to the exterior (barrel, lens hood) of the lens can lower the cost of a lens. Just ensure that the actual glass itself is scratch free! Also there is a code for each lens that tells you when and where it was made, so you can get an idea of how old it is as well. I saved atleast 350-400 off my Canon 24-105mm L by buying used. -
I had mine done at Lasik. The first day/night when you come home from the surgery is not that fun, you have a regiment of about 3-4 drops you have to put in every few hours and it just hurts to have your eyes open. HOWEVER you do heal quick, for the next week or two..the amount of drops you have to put in is reduced and you become less and less sensitive to light. I was back at work within a couple of days. I would recommend it to anyone, its a life changer.
