My first set of boots were Korkers, had the same thing happen after 2 seasons on them. I've switched to Simms since then, and haven't looked back. Out of the last two pairs of Simms, I'm getting atleast 3 years on the boots. I usually have to retire them only because the tread becomes none existent, the overall integrity of the boot still holds strong.

Thanks guys! BiggyJ - That church is a pretty photogenic place, that's cool that you have some ties in your family to it! MattyTayler - Thanks man, the fishing in Iceland was a test. We stayed at a fishing lodge in Myvatn in Northern Iceland which has a reputation as one of the better Brown trout fisheries around those parts, and guys who had been coming to the lodge for the last 30 years said it was the coldest one on record, so there wasn't many fish caught those couple days which was a real bummer. However when we moved north, and did some DIY fishing, we started to get into some fish but we still encountered 35 k/m winds pretty much everyday so we had to improvise. I did see some absolute massive browns there (29inch +), but unfortunately didn't land any of the big boys. I do plan to go back there at some point in my life, it's a magical place and I would encourage anyone who is thinking of doing it to take the plunge. Most of the rivers there work on a "beat system", so you pay per day for a certain stretch of water. The prices ranged from $75 - $150, and I'm sure some of the Atlantic salmon beats are more expensive. I would recommend renting a campervan from one of the many rental companies there, and then just going at your own pace around the country. Everything is VERY expensive there, so making your own food is probably the way to go. A standard burger and fries ( nothing special ) would run you atleast $25 dollars. Nice shots there Neil! I'm really digging the one during Fall with the huge range of yellows from those trees, with that mountain looming in the background. Your shots of the eagle are very sharp and crisp as well which is a must when shooting birds & wildlife! Hit me up if you want to go shooting sometime!

Nice work Neil, really stepping up your game. What time of day is your Mt Armstrong shot from??? I like that storm shot as well, the division of the wheat & canola (I think?) on the bottom really adds some visual tension to the overall storm, I keep looking up at the storm but then my eye is pulled to the bottom and follows that line into the horizon. We should get out sometime!

Adobe provides access to full versions of all of their latest products for $10 (US) a month. Being a beginner photographer, it's probably not the route that you want to take but further down the road it might be an option if you end up using Lightroom, Photoshop and Final Cut Pro. As for an entry level camera, I would recommend looking at a Canon Rebel series camera. There are a ton of used ones on kijiji for prices south of $400. As for lens, going used is a great way to save a buck and for the most part they will hold their value. I've been into landscape photography for about 5 years now and started off with a Rebel. Finally last year I forked out the cash and moved to a full frame DSLR but I still don't notice a huge jump in quality over my previous camera ( it's the lens which you want to invest in ). But in all honesty it's a pretty big misconception that a fancy camera will make you a better photographer, it comes down to practice, practice, practice....oh yeah and putting in the time to get yourself into the breath taking locations (which is why fly fishing and photography complement each other). Do yourself a favor and go check out 500px.com , some great photographers on that site but take it all with a grain of salt. Most people these days cook up their images pretty good in post processing ( jacking up the saturation, contrast, etc ), it's something that I'd say most photographers do at some point - there's no problem with this but some of it is over the top for my liking. Nice captures sir, I'm like that one picture above the Elbow River devastation pic. Looks like a spot you went to specifically to take pictures or were you fishing along the way? I'd love to see what it looks like up there duringa sunrise/sunset with a bit more dramatic light.

Hey guys, It's been a while since I put some photos up here, just wanted to share some of my work from 2014. I spent 4 months last year touring through South America; starting in Argentina and making my way north through Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and finishing off in Columbia. I had the privilege to chase some trout down in Argentina, unfortunately no pictures of any fish down there ( it's too much of a gong show trying to take a picture of a fish with a DSLR when your by yourself ). If you guys ever have the chance to head down to South America, all I can say is don't hesitate. It's only a matter of time before it gets more touristy. Thanks for the info Brandon, how many other anglers did you see out on the river during your outings? You mentioned that you hiked a decent amount, is it similar to around here ? (ie. seeing a bunch of anglers grouped up within 1km of parking, after that having most of the river to yourself).

Great looking fish! Did you have to do much research to find snouts over there? Or was it pretty straightforward.....pick a creek/river and fish the hell out of it?

Thanks guys, @Bowflyman - Agreed, we found it much easier too have a shot at them by lugging a belly boat up there. It's sure a pain in the ass to hike in, but once you hook into one it is all worth it.
