  1. another one, where they talked to the guides and fisherman, and not one hotel or anything in that area
  2. The guys in the keys (Andy Mills) is sometimes using 40 lb shock with a 1/0 since the tarpon are getting so spooky....
  3. you timed rod repairs as badly as you possibly could (extremely heavy season)..orvis is running around 6-8 weeks, if not higher, on repairs at the moment.
  4. Top Ride, Shake and Float, Shake n Bake...etc etc, better then any gink or anything for CDC and foam bugs..
  5. You will pay more for better flies. All of the specialty shops in town carry well tied flies Country Pleasures, Bow River Troutfitters, Fish Tales, Westwinds..etc etc
  6. Does the sign before the gap have the regulations on it.? I can't remember if it does I ask as I landed a fish infront of an angler, and he couldn't believe i released it. He asked me why i released it, and i told him its catch and release only..so i asked him where he was from..calgary.. Maybe a few smaller signs should be put up at the common parking lots that declare the gap is C&R and Bait Ban. Tired of seeing that crap there.. Why only a warning on the bait? I'm kind of confused why barbs are enforced, but not bait on a river that has been bait ban for much longer then barbless. Just wondering the reasoning behind this After being so negative, i have to say that i am glad to see that i was checked there for the first time in my life this year, by that guy earlier in the year. And glad to see the effort being put forward. Thank you clive and Al for all your hard work
  7. Would it be walk and wade only? Seems a waste of time if it is, and if it isn't, how would you get it judged using a boat...
  8. i think you're kidding yourself if you think wholesale isn't worried. People go to wholesale for the exact same reasons people would go to Bass Pro (and wholesale is no mom and pop store in the least)
  9. I can't wait for you to have this 1200 dollar rod broken by your idiocy of using a vac rack while driving. Loop reels are renowned for drags failing, ever wonder what the reason is that no shops in calgary carry loop when they used to? Performance wise, there are quite a few reels that out perform loops with smoother and far more consistent drag systems, and a reel that won't blow up if you do what a normal person has done at least once in their life..i guess pretending to being a loop pro team member (which your not, but for some reason you keep telling people...), makes you immune to a slip...
  10. You drop an opti, and it's folded into itself...loop reels are never going to match what Danielson was. I'd buy a Hatch any day of the week far above any other reel for the same price as a loop... Lamson Velocitys are probably the best reel for the price with an incredible drag
  11. I'll have a day in smithers on october 25th after my flight gets in at 9:30 before i go to the babine on the 26th..won't have a car though.. worth it to get a classified for that, or just wait till i'm on the babine?
  12. So when i blow air over an empty pop bottle lid, that noise is friction? It's vibration that is making noise, not friction. Friction would slow down the line, not speed it up I have probably fished the SS as much as anyone, certaintly more then most, and i can't find anything wrong with it, and i'll never go back to a GPX, and certainly not the POS rio gold that i fished for all of a day. I'd bet that every shop that carries it also has at least one as a demo....hint, everyone should find out themselves whether they like it not instead of reading an opinion, be it negative or positive, and then make their own decision
  13. yes, there were some hold overs, despite what most had said...they stocked a ton of fish, include some over 20"
  14. Anyone who thinks Bert will be on their starting top line needs to give their head a shake. It will be Cammalleri Langkow Iginla
  15. cammalleri is a viable top 10 point getter in the league if he stays healthy...and he's certaintly not slow
  16. weird that the 'new flava' has most shop owners and employees fishing the fresh and saltwater ones religiously....there is simply no better casting line on the market, the downside of it rubbing down your fingers is a small price to pay for the casting and floatability of the line. It's easy to clean, and doesn't pick up dirt any faster then regular lines (i have 3 that i fish, no complaints in the least)
  17. google Marabou Worm, more action then any other worm pattern.....was created after Lafontaine witnessed the true action of worms under water
