  1. I was checked tree three last year and fished roughly 100 to 150 days
  2. HEy Gord, As long as there are no sheep around you should be fine!!!!!! LOL, J/K
  3. Hmmm that would be nice, but we need defence right now not offence
  4. I say it now... Blake (if we get him) will help out our defence for a year, good leader to lead a young bunch into the playoffs and get through the first round! Now as for Cojo..... Well lets take a look. 1) He chocked in Tronoto and he was suppose to be their saving grace! 2) He didn't last very long and phoneix 3) Sure he did good in the spangler cup but it still isn't a NHL Playoff Only thing he is good for is to give kipper a small rest, but I still think he will chock he's good at that!!!
  5. Me and toolman got out today COMING SOON..........
  6. I have found for myself that I love the smaller stick (maybe because I used a 10 foot single hand for a long time) and didn't find it to difficult to cast (Thankful I had some experince guys show me a thing or two). Looking forward to the day I get my TFO Pro 7126 lined up........ As for line, I casted some of Toolmans here and there, but am imprssed with the Elixr. No coiling which is great (Espically in the colder weather) I also like the fact that the line doesn't make much splash which allows me to be a bit more concince on my stealth.
  7. Can I sign up for the sat class
  8. Hey rusty, I use the Dan Baily LA3 Not the best but great to learn on so you can save the clams and get a better one at a later time.
  9. Headscan, I found that for my 11 1/2 5/6wt a 13 foot floating poly leader was perfect for nymphing with, then I used some PLine (cheap crap, haven't had the oppurtuinty to buy new tippet and leader metrail for the Spey yet) to my first fly. I also cut my leader from the thinest to the thickest (reasoning behind this was so I still could turn over heavy flies if I wan't to do something like SJW, StoneFly, BD nymph) So far I hit into last time I was out about a dozen trout of nice size. Was able to control and cast my line from 20 feet to about 50 feet at the max (will cast farther just need more and more PRACTICE) I would start out with a 16 foot poly leader and work down 1 foot at a time till you have it dialed in... BTW, I wasted a 10 foot poly leader in learning this.
  10. Hey Brentt u running a poly float leader? Here's what I do, dunno if its correct but seems to work for me. I run a Scandi set up with a 32 foot 380gr head then I got on a 13 foot poly float leader to my indie. After that by loop to loop connection I ran today about 5 foot to barrel swivel then ran another 4 feet to my first fly. I found I could Single Spey upriver and just when my line lays out on the river I do a short mend, just my scandi head not polyleader, I get gret presentation for up river nymphing. What I liked about this the most was that I was still able to nymph from 20 feet infront of me to 50 feet and still have control over my line, weather it was upriver nymphing, down and across (note, I know little about this so could be doing it 100% wrong) I seemed to have a good system going. Can't wait to get my Skagit going, so far just got the 7/8 12 1/2 TFO Pro rod for this, but most likely only time I see me using it will be for bull trout hunting and having to turn over big heavy flies.
  11. What do you mean you can't use worms?
  12. Yeah that is diffently one thing I enjoyed, no coiling was aswome....
  13. Tottally digging the exlir line, by the end of the day I was shooting out about a rods length....... I got a couple of photo's just need to upload
  14. It was fun also meeting everyone, thanks for all the info everyone shared with me!
  15. I'll be using tape untill my casting gets better then I will try for a bit with nothing and watch closly to see what happens.
  16. Thanks Gordon, loved the vid of the guy do the 70 yard cast, even though he had favarable conditions it was shocking to see someone cast that far.
  17. This makes no sence to me at all? I broke my rod in all 4 parts, mostly my doing, and only paied like brentt said $100. Second Springbrook is just a distrubutor for TFO and not a manufacture, cause eveny thing I have seen that they have manufacture themselfs bear the name Springbrook on it. Third, if I lived in BC I would have to ship the rod to here (Why should we have a break on it cause we live in the same town as the distrubutor), we are lucky that we can drive within 30mins and have the rod fixed or replaced the same day. I have a friend that is a big Orvis fan and has had to replace his rod three times this year. I do not think $$$ has anything to do with a rod qualility but instead it is how the owners treats it. My first TFO, a 6wt 9ft was my first rod and I was rough as hell with it and has only broken it four times in 2 yrs. My second TFO which is a 7wt 10 foot I just broke the tip (due to ice build up) in two years, and my other TFO Blue (6wt 9 foot) has yet to break. I am extremly hard on my equipment, as I have stated before, and have never brought inside any of my TFO's from outside (yup they sit in the Sun, Rain, and Snow) and hold up great. In the end does the rod make a better fisher? I think not, if you like the higher end stuff, great I hope you have alot of sucess with it, but because something cost 1/2 the price of something you like does not mean it is no good! Just my two bits.
  18. Well after beeing patient for a time, I finally got my first Spey Rod today. Taking the opurtiunity I purchased a 6/7 11 1/2 Beulah Spey Rod with the matching Exilir line. I found that I was still able to control my line at short distance (30 feet and closer) while at the same time bombing out the line 50 to 60 feet with no effort. I used a 10 foot poly leader (Which I am thinking of cutting it down to about 6 feet) then from loop to loop I attached about another 6 feet of a taper leader to my first hook which was a a SJW then about a foot to a Hare's Ear, and another foot to a CJ. Had a ton of hook ups today with a couple of whitties. Biggest trout I caught in the two hours I was out was a nice fat 18" Rainbow. Tottaly happy with this purchase as I was able to hit some seams that I have been wanting to hit but could not with my single hander. I also found that the 11 1/2 was not that much bigger then my old 10 footer and found it nice cause I did not have to worry about overhanging tree branches as much as I would have to with a bigger stick. As my knoweldge and ability with the Spey Rod grows I am sure there will be other things I will come to enjoy with the rod but for right now I am absoultly loving the set-up, thank you Courtney for giving me the opurinity to purchase this set-up, am extremly happy with it so far and will recommended it to anyone intrested in purchasing a Spey Rod. BTW Courtney, are you bringing any reels to the trade show for sale, right now I am using a Dan Baily LA3 reel which works great but I might be in the market for a higher quaility reel for around the 150 to 200 price range, anything you suggest?
  19. I myself just got my Beulah 6/7 11.7 (Thanks Courtney, love the rod) and also got the matching Elixir Spey line and all I can say is I love the line and rod.... Even though this is my first spey rod, the line for my rod is aswome, turns over exteremly nice, and was able to cast a SJW, HAre's Ear and CJ 50 to 60 feet without even tring. I highly recommend this line to anyone............
  20. This doesn;t bother me too much... I once read a long time ago that in the USA, some goverment agency was tracking what people were taking out of the libray, ie: if some was taking alot of books out on bomb making or compentent for bomb making, the agency would then flag that person, as a potiental danger. After 911 I would hate to see what type of things the World goverments are doing that would be consider invasion of privacy! Also information is way to easy to obtain now on the internet, send me a e-mail and I can get all the e-mail addresses from your contact list, it is called Ghosting, also with all the adaware floating around the internet these days I really wounder how many of us is beeing tracked by some unsuspecting adawre we might have on our comps.
  21. My favorite the last two seasons (Incase no one knew that is how long I have been fly fishing for) would have to be my tiago, never cleaned, never brought in during the winter, and it still works perfect.
  22. Local, Here are some #12 that I tied up last night (Tied some #16 this morning, hoping to get out today to test them out) As one of my fishing mentor's once said to me, How do you know if they will work or not if you haven't tried fishing them?
  23. Aswome job dude, I like the way they look. I have been ting tem in all sizes from #10 to #14 Not good at ting the tinny stuff, if I need them I will raid a buddies box or go out and buy some until I am able to tie them that same.
  24. Merry Christmas Gordon.... BTW, with the help of Toolman I have purchased my first two hander and can't wait till you offer your next clinc here!
