  1. I'd say that's definitely "skinny water" fo sho!! Love the one of the Tiger Lilly, as well! P
  2. Yes Adam, it was nice to met you to! Glad you were able to hook into a fish! Of the 2 flies I gave you, which one worked the pmd or caddis?! Any time you want to get out again, drop me a PM I'll show you some better water! Also there are quite a few guys on here that also live in Cochrane, as well! Cheers, Peter
  3. Is there one "best way"?! I'm sure I'll get a mirad of suggestions and opinions, but here it goes... By bug species (i.e., caddis [pupa, nymph, adult], mayflies, etc.); By fish species, i.e. bully box, trout box, pike box, etc; General - dry box, streamer box, nymph box, (or in Don Anderson's case, a suite case of chironomids, ), etc. or by season, still water, small stream, large stream, etc. One caveat, of course, it obviously depends on how many flies one actually has, naturally... Ok... go!! P
  4. Of course you mean "inexpensive"! LoL! By the by, a "non-sponsoring" fly shop has the patagonia's on sale in limited sizes!! P
  5. And if they are hitting dries, then what?! Bring your Spey for streamers and a 4 wt or 5 wt for dries (for a w & w). If you are going to be in your 'toon then bring your 6 wt or 7 wt and a 4 wt or 5wt and forget the Spey... P
  6. Thanks Jay! I guess I mistakingly equated loading with speeding up or slowing down the action of a rod. None-the-less for me, Grande doesn't load as well as GPX, that being said, Grand roll casts better then GPX (longer head, I suspect)... P
  7. Not purposely wanting to sound like a jerk, but literally, close your eyes and pick a spot on the map and go there - walk up stream or down and give it a whirl!! Failing that, hit Fish Creek Park and you should be set. South part of the river produces more then the NW... Lots of reports on here so scroll through and get a bit of background info... Enjoy! P
  8. Jay, I always thought that Grand, like GPX was a 1/2 line wt heavier and therefore will load (read, speed up) a fast action rod better, not slow it down?! "The RIO Grand is one half size heavier than the AFTMA standard and features more weight distributed toward the front of the line to easily load fast action fly rods." P
  9. Lance, Just for $hits & giggles, try a heavier tippet, or buy new tippet (the stuff you are using might be old/defective), or try a different knot... By the process of elimination, you can figure out what's happening (maybe )...
  10. This time of year swing a "Skid Bitch"! P P.S. You might want to bring some clean underwear to change into for the drive home! LoL (when the big boys hit it can scare the $hit out of you!)
  11. And another reason to support the Stream Watch Program!! P
  12. Or WildRose, as they are pretty much the same (maybe even worse) Okay hijack over.... P
  13. Return it to where you bought it! P
  14. Why not, if it's allowed, and if you are ethical and respectful about it, you are paying for that privilege through your licensing fee!! P
  15. Jared, What creek, where?! P
  16. Yeah Colin (CDone) just built me a Dancraft 8' 3 wt FLT (med/fast) and it throws a 4 wt line WAY better then a 3 wt)! P
  17. Yeah thanks for the invite Steve! Glad I can be part of the club!! P
  18. No, you can keep 2 trout (cutties, rainbows, brookies or 2 browns if they are over 40 cm, or combo of one of the cutties, brookies or rainbows and one brown over 40 cm). There is nothing better then trout from a mtn. lake/stream, the meat is so firm! Way better then the bow river swill or warm water stockies!! Of course I would hope that you wouldn't keep any tiddlers or smallish fish just to keep them?! P P.S I have one or 2 every 5 years or so...
  19. Creepy in a very kewl sort of way!!
  20. Or patronize any of the FFC site sponsors!!
  21. Jay, I have gold on my 4 wts and like it, but they are med & med/fast respectively... I will say that the Grand on my 6 wt roll casts like nobody's business (longer head, I suspect)! P
