Jenever. Dutch gin-like drink, about double the size of our shot, after eating a Zoute Haring. (Salt Herring, gutted, fins, scales, etc still intact, but preserved in brine.) Went down like a mile and a half of barbed wire.

Kippersnack. Out of curiosity, I called to see what the deal is with overnight camping outside the campgrounds. She said that it is not allowed. That is the main reason Rolling Hills Reservoir campground was set up. (She's a land administrator for the EID) She can deny Encana well service access, so I suppose she has some stroke. I can give you her name and number if you want. What anyone on this board does, personally, I could give a damn less. But the subject came up, and as a bit of advice I passed on what I know. I personally don't fish Newell much, except in summer from a boat, deep, for walleye. I've lived in the general area (county) for almost my entire life, and I haven't seen random camping allowed in many years. She said in extreme cases they have had to involve the RC's. (though I doubt Birchy would be alot of trouble) I know if I was going to travel a ways to fish the weekend, I'd want to know a bit about where I was headed to avoid problems. There may be a good chance nothing would happen, but it is May long weekend and I'm sure the CO's, etc, will be out in full force.

Road allowance, may be ok (Doubtful). Wheeled up to the water, outside a campground, not ok. I have a friend that works there, (EID land use) and they will punt you, CO's or otherwise. Just FYI. But I realize that "it's not the Castle/Livingstone" so hey, whatever...

I think its sort of a funny thing with that, like sleeping in the backseat of your vehicle with no intention to drive will still get you a DUI.. I could be way off mind you. The EID is also, I believe, by legal definiton, private land, and places are posted "No Trespassing".

I don't believe it's cool to camp wherever overnight on EID land. There's a campground at Kinbrook Island though, but I have no idea if it's open. I think they frown upon camping wherever because of the threat of fire.

Nice work Brad.. ( Pretty glad I was sitting on this gong-show injection well instead of making it out for the day. )

Practising On A Closed River
jksnijders replied to bigalcal's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I was fishing the Crow early in the year a few years ago, packed up and headed home without taking off my waders. Driving north past Maycroft, and a hell of a storm to the west, so I headed into the Oldman to see if I could get a pic or 2. Pulled off the road, standing beside my truck, and a CO drives by. Brakes slam, lights go on, comes over, had to tell him the story behind the waders, he was pretty sure I was going fishing. All was well after I explained the situation, but all it took was seeing me in waders before June 16. -
I was standing about 10 feet away from a rig that got struck once. My eyes, ears, head, everything went kinda funny for a split second, everything had a blue haze to it, and the strike went from the crown down the anchor lines and arced away. Out around Oyen with not many trees around it was about the highest, (and all metal) thing around. A friend of mine from southern Sask. had an uncle that was out checking cows, got hit, killed him and his horse.

Taco, you and I need to go raise hell on a few of those streams out west I think. -
Interesting. Couldn't recall which had passes that law exactly, though it does seem like a strange rule.

Is that a Viszla? (And it's "formerly" whatever that handle is.)

Mother's Day Is Coming Up
jksnijders replied to LynnF's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I kinda blew my mother's birthday.. Doubt that would cover for it. She's going to the city for Seaman's estate sale anyway, she'll be busy I'm sure. -
Hmm. I catch a bonefish, (which, from what I understand, is an accomplishment.) I want to get a picture holding said bonefish (or any other fish for that matter..) I'm probably going to pick it up with my dominant hand, no? But perhaps not all people would do so I guess. Risk dropping it, etc. for the sake of, well, who knows what?

I'm a little backward, but I believe fluoro is less visible in water? I peel off 3 armlengths ( about 9 feet ) of Berkley Trilene, (the cheap stuff) usually about 8 lb test, (I'm slow, so the designations in terms of X confuse me..) if it will fit in the nymph hook eye, good to go. Or more if the water's deeper. Works well with larger nymphs, obviously, and if I'm fishing something smaller I'll surgeon knot (?) down to whatever size I need. Pretty rare to get snapped off that way, I've found. I used to use tapered leaders all the time, but got sick of paying 9 bone for 3 of the damn things. This all depends on where I'm fishing, obviously. Fast runs where a fish isn't gonna get a good look at a nymph, where they gotta react fast to eat, go heavy with tippet and weight. Slower, clear water, obviously they may get a chance to study it, so compensate. As for casting, I used straight mono, not tapered at all for a looong time with dries. I just punched it out harder. Lorney finally got me convinced to taper my leaders again, I like them again now for sure. ( I can hear the laughing already..)

Sorta.. Could golf, swing a bat, stick, throw, with my left also. Never played any sports extensively that involved any of them in order to become equal with my right, though. Had a friend in school that could play badminton with 2 rackets. And was as good with either. Something to watch for sure. Used to rodeo with a guy that was right handed for heads, left handed for heels. Pretty interesting too. (Though I bet Taco's the only guy on here that knows what that means..)

Nice pics.. Germany and Switzerland banned C&R I think?

I got 2 hands, so I use 'em. Cast right reel left. Or cast left, sometimes. Poorly.

That there is golden advice.

Nice pics, and nice fish.

Absolutely correct, sir. Hot beverage in the groin area, the end result of watching the aforementioned video. -

Wild video. A guy I know was out once, saw Mama Duck and her kids out for a swim, big boil in the water, ducks scattering everywhere, one less duckling for Mom to look after.. -
Lol. That's very nicely put... I was thinking Cold Hard Bitch..?
