  1. Since we're on the subject.. Lorney and I have been exploring more than usual, and I've been exploring my camera's settings quite a bit, here's some pics that turned out, of pike that are of no mean size. The action was fast and furious, but the fish small and insignificant. There's a guy that was just featured in "Catch" magazine, named Corey Kruitbosch who's pics I've admired a while, gave me some ideas.
  2. Not sure if anyone watched the special about the "Mad Trapper of Rat River", but that guy was one tough sonofabitch... I read 2 books about the story, unreal. As well as the guys that went after him. Unbelievably tough fellas.
  3. Awesome..
  4. Speaking of wind, this old gal would have been a personal best, taped near 45", but the F$%^@G wind buried a 2/0 hook in my forearm so I gave up casting streamers. Switched to a spoon to try and carry on against the wind, next cast, bam. She had a scarred up right eye you can plainly see in the pic, and I was alone, so this garbage pic is all I got. But, since it came on a spinning rod, to me, it doesn't really count. An old pic, from a place a ways away.
  5. A sign like this? (with heavy emphasis on the lower left corner....) And the wind stops next to never in most of the spots I go as well.
  6. Awesome... Every one of them. Especially the Baldy and the Chinook.
  7. A few should be able to guess what this is..
  8. Some pics. A place we went to had very amorous scuds. Not unusual, but never seen that many on waders before. Not as cool as a "beard of bees", for sure, but interesting nonetheless.
  9. Picked it up this afternoon, haven't really listened to it yet but his cover of "Rake" is awesome.
  10. Oh yeah. Townes is unbelievable... Got "Our Mother the Mountain" blaring as we speak. From Rearview Mirror. Awesome disc.
  11. Count me in..
  12. Not often I catch something bigger than Lorne, but he paid me back royally for sure..
  13. Lorne and I headed out a few weeks ago, a wise man showed us the way. The wise man had a good sense of humour, especially when it came to "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles". Here's a few pics. The day was a bit slow, but hell for weather probably had something to do with it. A few pics of the same fish, but I liked them all and thought I'd post them
  14. Yes, I've heard the stories from back in those days.. A good few years back, for sure. That basically wiped that spot off the map, from what I've heard. Chuckin' bait, many of them, from what I understand. As well as commercial fishermen not afraid to string nets wherever, that erased a few others. I know a guy that has fished there better than 20 years easily and he told me some of the horror stories.
  15. Ever astute, Birchy.. Could possibly be the post I put up, that after much deliberation, decided was pretty boring, and probably of not much interest to the crowd here, I pulled 'er. Most of the pics were old, was going through the old pics I had built up thought I'd stick a few up. (Nice ladies, Ayr, btw.) A wise man with whom I've recently become acquainted told me, though he said he'd heard it elsewhere, was that "Flyfishing for trout is like ballet, while doing so for pike is like WWF wrestling." An interesting quote I thought.
  16. Whoops.... Back to the original topic.
  17. Another one that didn't make it. People just never learn that it's tough driving in alkaline soil. Because there's usually alot of water underneath it.
  18. Here's a good reason why. Guys just have to see how buried they can get their trucks after a good rain. I was out taking pictures of a storm one evening and came across a guy driving a Hummer through this spot. Buried to the axles. I drove right on by, in my 4 WD Diesel, tow ropes securely under the back seat. I did give him a wave for good measure, but just the fact he was driving a Hummer was enough for me to figure out he was a pompous ***hole..
