I buy $15 polarized 'cause I always break or lose them. I comparted mine to a $160 pair & they are as good, and coincidentally had the same brand name. Once they're scratched-up, it's easy to dump a $15 pair than a $160 pair. I'm all about the cheapo-specs as I feel that the big mark-ups in this case are more for name than anything. You might gain some comfort, but my cheapo's feel great all day long.

You will likely have better luck from shore at Quarry pond in Canmore - there's also way more grayling in there. A float tube for Wedge would be far better for you at the moment, early season with chironomids is far better from shore.

Looks like a rock cod to me. Used to catch them off Vancouver all the time, but a long time ago.

Esleech, I had the same experience on another river (which shall remain nameless) - not in the same area but with the same species just the other day. Caught lots of cutts a few weeks ago, but only 1 or 2 for an all day trip the other day. Not where they were supposed to be or where they used to be, so I figure they're on the move with the temps changing. I dunno for sure, but it makes sense to me.

On the up side, the more people on the Bow the more friends of the Bow too. More eyes to report bad actions also, so not everything is bad about more folks out there. Just trying to be my usual little ray of sunshine.

I gotta say winter can be awesome on the Bow. Like Rusty said, we had a ball of a day in early Feb on dries no less! Nymphing was stellar too, but ya gotta remember don't go if it's too cold like -5 or below. Stick to 0 or above. Also, slushy river is no fun. Other than that, tee-up with one of us over winter & keep the fun goin. Oh, and don't fish behind Max.

I've noticed that a lot of rainbows in the Crow exhibit parr-like markings at an age class that they shouldn't be present. Also, look at these rainbow photos : I talked to the biologist about these pics & he said they are most likely the same strain. These fish were caught from the same body of water on the same day. I asked the biologist about it as I thought it was so unique that they looked so different, but in the end they are supposedly from the same heritage. Interesting.

Hawgstoppah, I gotta get me one of them which-a-ma-callits. Finally, the catch-all fly. DDF, Hawgstoppah has it pretty much down. Not much need to stray from that list, but like MTB said, cutty's like some other floaties. I found that the coachman trude & hendricksons (12-14) seem to work for them of late.
