The Three Stooges Thread
reevesr1 replied to Weedy1's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
So I looked up Westminster system on Wiki, and cut this part out: Here is the entire piece: Your system, like it or not So, you guys just had an election, and the conservatives garnered a whopping what, 38% of the vote? But since this was more than last time, and the Libs dropped seats, in the conservatives minds this represented some sort of mandate? Really? There have been a lot of statements that the other parties are just in this for personal power, and how they don't care about anything else. Again, really? And just how did the conservative gov. try to work together with the other parties in this time of economic hardship? The fist chance Harper got post election, he tried to rub their noses in it by attempting to change their funding rules. Boy, now that is how you work together in times of trouble! The conservatives are in this for power just like everyone else. If their plans and "the good of the country" happen to align, then great. If they don't align then a political party will do what it takes to keep itself in power whether it is good for the country or not. Always and forever amen. This is a bad development for myself and the industry I work in. But I hold no anger against the oppostition parties for getting together. They are using the system as it is designed. If the people don't like it, change the system. My anger is against Harper in general. For the most part, I thought he was doing a good job. But he played the sanctimonius ***hole part once too often. In this case he made a horrific mistake, and is going to pay a huge price for it. In the long run, this will probably work out ok for the conservatives. Whoever is in charge over the next several years is going to have an absolute mess on his hands. Next election, there will be anger against the coalition for taking power and then allowing the country to flounder (and it is going to flounder for a bit no matter who is in power). The conservatives will win a majority and all will be right in the western Canadian world. In the short term, the honorable member from Calgary has screwed the pooch and Alberta is going to pay for it. -

When did I move to Italy? Actually, it is surprising to me this has never happened in the past. This is the Westminster System, correct? Happens in Europe all the time. Not good news for Alberta though. I actually don't blame the other sides for doing this at all. This is the system as designed. The part I find troubling is mainstream (term used loosely) policital parties aligning themselves with a separatist party. But, what is the old saying "politics makes strange bedfellows"? These ones are pretty strange. I don't see how the GG can not approve this. Again, perfectly within the system whether we like it or not. The bigger question is how long before the coalition crumbles? -
Nice, uhm, sailfish.. Out of curiostiy, is that your catch in the background with what looks like a BIG ass Wahoo, tuna and smaller Wahoo (or king mac? bad angle) I know this is just continuing the hijack, but for those who haven't been paying attention, I always continue the hijack.

I was assuming there was a liberal in there somewhere. I have no real confirmation. Same thing with democrat. Not sure any of my Texas friends even know there is another party than republican.

I wanted to thank everyone who donated to my fund raiser this month! I had hoped that I could raise $1000.00, but between a bunch of Texans (and assorted other 'mericans), Albertans (and assorted other Canadians) , Oilfield Trash, Fish Bums, Liberals, Conservatives, Democrats, Republicans and I think maybe even a Green Party member I was able to raise over $3200! This puts me in the top 50 out of 3500 or so in Canada and top 200 out of 40,000 fund raisers world wide! In all honesty, I feel unbelievable honored to call this motley crew my friends! Thanks to all who donated and to all who put up with my rambling about it for the last month. Special thanks to Wayne and Brett for the donations of the rod and flies!! Here is the last pic:

Another Mysterious Couple Of Deaths In Mexico

I was fishing a reef once in Galveston Bay with my dad. I was in my 30s, so he would have been in his 50s. We had fished this section of the bay many, many times and he had been fishing it for probably 40 yrs. There is one gut between two reefs and some days you could wade across on your tip toes (we are both 6'2") and some days you had to swim it. This was a swim it day. But the tide was running really hard and we were getting swept down. It was kinda funny at first, laughing that we couldn't swim to the reef as we were getting old. I got back to the shallower (say shoulder deep) water, dad is still swimming and yells something to me. I say "what?" and he yells again. I say "what??" again. He says "son of a bitch" and tosses his rod and reel away. This shocks me. I could barely imagine a scenario where he would toss his rod and reel other than drowning. So I toss my rod and reel and start swimming out to him. Dad goes under. I see a boat and yell like a banshee. The boat and I get to him at the same time. He pops up holding his jeans. WTF? "Had to get the damn jeans off to swim" he says. Anyway, pants back on we use the guys rod and reel and casted around for a bit trying to snag ours. No luck. Buddy brings us to the shore (no boat, we were just wading a shoreline you could drive to) and we walk back to the car. "What were you saying when you yelled to me?" I asked. He looks at me mildly disgusted and says "I was yelling for you to cast your mirrolure (big 3 hook lure) to me so I could hook it on to my @#$#en rod." We never really talked about how scary it was all that much. But on the way home we did stop at the big sporting goods shop and he bought me a new rod and reel. I always took it as a thank you. Moral of the story: Tides are nothing to screw around with. We were two pretty damn experience fishermen fishing an area we both basically grew up fishing, and it took us totally by surprise. -

Thanks MTB, but let's keep it a separate auction: MissinTheBow is donating 25 of his killer flies (and anyone who has fished his stuff knows I speak the truth) with fly box. Let's let this one run until Friday evening at 8 PM. Let the bidding commence!! -
If there are mackerel, they like shiny things. Spoonflies in silver would be a good choice. If you don't like the idea of the spoon fly, then streamers (clousers, deceivers, etc.) in chartruese/wht, pink/wht (bright colors, especially if it is clear water) would work. Macks are a hoot to catch on a fly rod. Screaming runs. If you see fish "rising", it is likely bait fish, not the predators. When a predator hits something on the surface, you'll know it! Sling a popper out there. If you get a topwater strike it is AWESOME fun. Good luck!

They do a PSA test. It's a blood test that looks for Prostrate Specific Antigen (I did have to google it) as an early indicator of Prostrate Cancer. All is not good on the finger front however. The doctor will still do the finger thing to check for abnormalities. I think the finger is the freakin' abnormality, but my doctor seems to disagree. But think of it this way, moments of extreme displeasure and indignity balanced against dying early. Not that tough a decision. And Jared, I think the advent of my stache coincides with your fishing slump. Don't worry, it will be gone soon (the stache and your slump I hope) To get back on track we are at the Big Hairy Monkey Global Cooler at $225.00 -
Figured you would use those photoshop skills at some point! Pipes, How's that? Actually, I did think about the handlebars, but frankly most of the people doing this at my work are doing some form of chops. I decided to go more classic. And I must say that once this is done, this weekend, this thing will be cut off in record time. It drives me crazy. So keep hold of your donation till next year. I guarantee I'll be doing it again!!

David Suzuki is a bag of hot wind. His exhaled breath is the sole source of this so called "global warming". Sundancefisher, though a big hairy monkey, cools the temp of the globe merely by the sheer force of his intellect. That ok? -
You can get crack at Starbucks?? Man, what a town!! I don't know if it would affect the Bow for a couple of years, but I am quite certain the mouth of the Highwood will be utterly unfishable in the spring.
