So I clicked on the above link. Officially the first time I've ever been on Facebook. I clicked on Paul's profile, but it came back with some crap about me having to be his friend. I thought about it, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a member of the friends he'd otherwise not know, or let alone want to talk to. I also sensed pending doom if I became his friend. I mean, where would it lead? How many people would I then have to be friends with? I have a hard enough time keeping up with my flesh and blood friends, situational internet fishing friends, work friends, submarine friends, friends from childhood; I mean seriously, how many social outlets do we need? To damn much pressure, that's what I say. That and I'm almost as old as Taco, and all this technology scares me.

I was at the game. Funniest part was when they showed Habs fans toward the end of the 3rd. They didn't seem as proud of their sweaters as they did pre-game! -
This is universal. Saltwater equivalent: "I was really on them until that other boat showed up and shut everything down!" What I usually ask is "How long after you arrived did you start catching?" Usually the response is "right away!" With my followup "then why didn't your boat shut them down?" Everyone always looks to blame someone else when they are not catching. It's the easiest thing to do. Sometimes the reason is relevant. Quite often it isn't. Maybe someone could teach a course in causality.

Somebody gave me a Zpey hat. It fits really good. Haven't tried to cast it though, so I have no opinion about that. Three, I think. Apollo 1 burned up on the pad during testing with the astronauts in the capsule oversaturated with O2. There was a music lyric from an obscure band called "The Rainmakers": Take a trip with me to 1967 When Grissom, White and Chaffey took a rocket ride to heaven It was a dead end day upon AS204 It was American made, only the best for our boys Hijack over.

Big black streamer chasing a tiny clouser paid off for me today!

$105 Yikes. But worth it, I hope. I actually cleaned it last night in order to protect the investment!
-
It don't shine like that for me. If I see white at the end of the tip on a roll cast, I'm a happy man.
-
I know it is the stillwater, but you guys modified it to be like the stream. I know the taper is a bit different, but close enough? Whatever. it casts far!
-
I bought some Loop Opti Stream line from the boys at Whistler at the show. I've had a chance to fish it a couple of times this week, and all I can say is "wow"! I have been hitting seams I typically have issues with easily. My biggest problem has actually been not stripping out enough line when I am shooting and getting a big bounce back when the line hits the end. The place I was fishing this week usually causes me problems catching the small trees and shrubs behind me when I am trying to cast far. I did not have that problem with this line. It seems I can keep it in the air better. I was also roll casting much farther than I did with my old line. Anyway, as you can see, I'm pretty impressed. This is the first time I've bought a high end line. It won't be the last. Now if I can only keep from stepping on it!!

Headscan, I am woefully ignorant of the different steelhead organizations and apologize for any mixing of the two groups. -
Well, they were all white as well. I guess since my parents were also white, I was abused as a child. Guess I've repressed it. Look, there are 400,000 catholic priests in the world. I wouldn't even hazard a guess as to how many ministers. The VAST majority of them are good men and women who have made significant sacrifices to help their "flock". If your original comment had been made at any visible minority, you would be crucified (no pun intended, sorta) for it. But if you make the same statement of a religious group, it seems to be acceptable. Bit of a double standard there. SJW-those priests were scumbags. I can find examples of scumbag ministers (or doctors, or nurses, or lawyers, or fishermen, or hunters, or whites, or blacks.......) as well. A couple of high profile ones come to mind. But they were not scumbags because they were priests or ministers. They were scumbags who became priests or ministers. Anyway, hijack over. I hope Tillman didn't do this. If he did, I hope he gets what's coming to him.

Fly Fishing Sacred Waters Hd
reevesr1 replied to humblefisherman's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I completely agree with all the above. I do hope to see "The Humble Fisherman" on the air soon. The trick, I'd imagine, is in entertaining not only the fly fisherman, but fishermen and outdoorsmen in general. Personally, I find Jay's footage thrilling, but I'm an easy sell. Catch a cuttie in a mountain stream or a big rainbow on the Bow, and I'm fairly well hooked. But I, and those on this board like me, make up a very small percentage of the viewers a show like this would need to target to survive. If I was a betting man, I'd say Jay has an excellent chance. I can't imagine any fisherman watching his work and not going "wow". But the excellent fishing, scenery, and respect for the sport and environment will need to be augmented by on screen personality. I'm glad to hear you will be working on that in your next series. (not working on getting a personality, but working on showing it on film!) I'm sure you will succeed. But I'm just as sure it will be a lot of work. Best of Luck. -

I've been wanting to send an email to FAN960 in general and Mike Richards in particular or forcing me into getting satellite radio. 960 is without a doubt the worst sports radio station I have ever heard. -

Wow, I gave the website a quick read. Last few lines were impressive. Being considered are: # limit number of guides and clients during specified time periods, # limit guide authorization and review guided allocation, # no guiding, # guided only for non-BC residents. So I find it interesting that these people are asking for help with fish management from another province? Seriously? I try to be pretty inclusive in my thinking about this sort of thing, and want to give the benefit of the doubt. And while I agree that we should do whatever we can to help the fish, I hate it that anyone who could draft the above as possible recommendations would EVER benefit from an increase in fish population. While I'm sure there are things like this being considered in other places, I personally have never heard anything like it. They don't deserve the fish, IMHO. One of the most selfish things I've ever read. From my perspective, this has nothing to do with preserving the fish stock for the sake of the fish, only for the sake of the "stakeholders." And I use that term very loosely. And to all the Albertans reading this, please don't ever consider anything like this here. You have a wonderful resource that anyone should be able to share. Just because BC is doing it doesn't mean you have to. -
Don't know if this is my biggest owie, but its a good story.... When I was stationed on a submarine in Hawaii, we used to play "Jungle Rules" volleyball almost every day when in port. It is like regular volleyball, except without any net rules whatsoever and liberal interpretation of carrying the ball. Like most things in life, size was very important. And if someone on your team was pissing you off, a good way to get even was to set him close to the net and watch him get stuffed. Anyway, one day we were playing at a boat picnic. Directly opposite of me on the front line was my friend Todd. Todd had played Tight End for University of Georgia in his younger days (he was probably 25 at the time of the incident), and even though he was packing a few (like 50) more lbs than he should, he was still a force to be reckoned with. During the game, I get a nice set and I think it is far enough off the net to get really aggressive. Run, jump, take full advantage of the liberal carry rule and proceed to slam dunk on my friend Todd. At least that was the plan. The big man was quicker and in better position than I thought. As I am coming down with the ball, his arm is coming up for the block and then he basically throws me backwards. My shoulder had other ideas, and unfortunately did not go back as fast as the rest of me. As I'm laying on the ground in agony and horrified by the bump in front of my shoulder our corpsman says to me "you want to me pop it back in now or wait until we get you to the clinic?" I opted for popping it in right away. I only thought it was hurting, as the "popping back in" event still lives in my mind as a moment of exquisite pain, with unbelievable relief after the shoulder returns to its rightful home. The worst outcome of this event was that the command structure of the sub shut down "jungle rules" volleyball after this event. Flash forward a couple of years. I am on my dad's shrimp boat with my younger brother who is probably 18 at the time. I am backing the boat from the pier and spin the big steering wheel (the kind with spokes and all, true captains wheel) and as I clear the pier, pop, out goes my shoulder again (probably the 3rd of 4th time it had been out since the incident above). The pain is pretty intense and I yell in agony. My brother looks at me in horror and says "what do you want me to do?" As the boat is backing straight toward a range tower, I croak "I want you to drive the F(&(*ing boat!!" He steers us clear of danger and watches, still in horror, as I rotate my shoulder back in place. Ouch again. But I did stay out on the water and as I recall made a bit of money. I also didn't have to do much work, just drive left handed!

I was at Sunshine today with my sons. We decided to go to Sunshine to avoid the certain hurricane at Castle. Was a trifle windy at Sunshine today. They shut down the upper lifts for much of the afternoon. Went back to the car at the end of the day to see my expensive car topper in pieces. Seems I forgot to lock it back up and the wind blew it to pieces. I also think I saw some swallows being blown by. Not sure if they were European or African but their velocity was impressive. Should have gone fishing. Could have hooked myself a time or two. Would have hurt less than the snow piercing my face.

When they came to south Texas, everyone said "they are no threat, they only sell freshwater stuff". Turns out, shock of shocks, they do a bit of market research and had a fully stocked, well thought out saltwater selection as well. Same will undoubtedly hold true for fly fishing gear. But will they compete with the specialty fly shops? I doubt it. They will certainly compete with Wholesale though.

They have keyboards designed for regular hands. They are called keyboards. I am typing on one now. It would be hard to fit in in a holster on my belt however, and a bigger PITA to hold up to my ear. Maybe we could go back to the days of the suitcase phone? By the way, I wish I was the knot head that designed the blackberry! As to fly boxes, seems they are trying to hit an unreachable design criteria, or at least conflicting ones. Same with phone keyboards I guess. Make them too big, and people complain they are big and klunky. Too small, and the designers are knot heads. (is it knot head or knothead?) Shack nasties affect us all.
