  1. Dick, Smitty has it covered. thanks!! Pipes, No kitty required, but thanks!
  2. I got nothin. Oh, wait. Double reference:
  3. NOOOO!!!! "We plan ahead. That way, we never have to be doing anything right now." I LOVE that movie! I also had a picture of a bacon donut sandwhich, but I was too slow. To continue:
  4. Actually, I think my wife is working! But Deb, and any other significant other bored enough to come to a gathering of fly fishermen/women, is welcome!
  5. Need big stick of butter.
  6. I've always been a minimalist when it comes to knots. I've probably tried most, if not all, of the knots listed above at one time or another, but always go back to: Some type of loop to loop for fly line to leader Double surgeon leader to tippet Clinch to most any fly except sometimes (though rarely) a loop knot to a streamer. I know there are stronger knots out there, but really I can never be bothered with them for very long.
  7. I use VRBO, but HomeAway is the parent company (or at least affiliated). The only reason I don't use it is I already fill up the condo using VRBO.
  8. Hey, lets play a new game. It's called how many posts until we can change anything into another global warming thread??
  9. Hey Darren, If you sneak me in I'll cook you breakfast.......
  10. Looks like we are up to 21 people or so. I've got the pancakes and syrup. Ewwber has the coffee. Here is what I figure I need: 3 dozen eggs (Headscan) 1 butter 2 gallons milk (tungsten) OJ (brunsie) 4-5 packages of bacon (Taco) And not to be totally un-environmentally sound- if someone can bring recyclable plates and glasses that would be sweet. Is there a such thing as recyclable knives and forks? Could us some of those as well. I don't want to just assign food because whoever is bringing the food needs to be at my house sorta early, like 7:45, or drop it off the night before. So if you can bring a portion of the above, let me know. Am I missing anything? And if anyone else is planning on coming, let me know.
  11. Absolutely. I like arguing about this kind of stuff.
  12. 21, 22, 23 (which takes all sources into account), 25b (the countries they live in are typically advanced countries who are better able to adapt), 26b (which can be interpreted as poor countries), 28b. To say the consensus is "split" is a bit misleading. I did cherry pick a bit for effect, but the general consensus of this in my eyes (which you will consider biased) is almost the exact opposite When they discuss solution methods, the strong bias from the scientists is to use scientific methods to solve (with a bias toward adaptation I think) the issue. That's funny. Like the politicians, or the people, will put up with scientists telling us what to do. Like it or not, this is a political issue. Which, whether you guys believe it or not, is a HUGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEE advantage to the status quo, ie, the do nothing solution. And Smitty, I gotta take major exception to the "media, politicians and left wing nut cases" comment. The sad truth is we need at least two of those to reign in the third, and the right wing nut jobs.
  13. No, thankfully. I would have had to stop every couple of steps for another picture.
  14. I've had to carry Bobloblaw before.
  15. I got phones for my wife and two of my kids with Rogers. My oldest son is with Koodoo and I am on a Telus corporate account. Never had an issue with Koodoo, over one year now. First month with Rogers resulted in a couple of hundred dollars in data charges that I did not expect. It was my son who accepted some sort of data rich email (don't remember the exact details anymore). They took it off the bill without question, and told us how to avoid it in the future. Telus has actually been pretty good as well, but it is a corporate account, so we have a bit of stroke. My wife used to have Bell, and DESPISED them. So if I had to get another phone, I would get Rogers or Koodoo. I would not even consider Telus or Bell.
  16. Awesome Ayr! You sure seem to be having quite the diverse winter. Pretty sure nobody is going to find anything wrong with these shots!
  17. Photobucket is an Image server. Basically it is a place on the internet to store pictures. This is photobucket: Photobucket I use imageshack, so I'll describe it: Imageshack Get yourself an account. Once you have an account, click on Upload Image in Imageshack. A dialog box will come up. Click on browse and find where the picture is on your computer and select it. Once you do that, select resize image (you don't need, or actually want to upload the whole image. The full resolution of a digital camera is way more than a computer screen can use). I resize for a 17" monitor. Then click upload. Once uploaded, another dialog box will pop up, with a bunch of different links to your image. I use the one called Short Link, or direct. Highlight the text in whichever box, right mouse click, and select copy (or CNTRL C, the shortcut for copy). Now go to your post and click the little icon called "Insert Image" (just to the left of the smiley face). Another dialog box comes up. Now click on the text window, right mouse click, and Paste (or CNTRL V, the shortcut for Paste). Hit OK and that is it. Sounds complicated, but it's pretty simple once you do it a couple of times. Took bobloblaw and tungsten about 2 months each, but they are not very smart.
  18. To put things in perspective a bit: From a $80 bill to the price of an entry level CAR. I wish I could find words to express my disgust at this sort of business practice. Actually, it's not a legitimate business practice. In my world we have a word for it. It's called fraud. The fact that it is even remotely possible to ring up that kind of bill is stunning and equally stunning (I would say bordering on criminal) that they would ever send a bill of that size. If they said there was a program that could track usage, and according to that program Pipes did not rack up that usage, then Telus has no ground to stand on. And Pipes, I think if you push this hard enough they will drop it. I would start using words "media" and "lawsuit" when I talked to them.
  19. Northrop Frye and Yoda in the same post. Nice.
  20. I'll fish as well. If I go to the show it will be Sunday.
  21. You wouldn't believe what I paid those punks for that GPS......... Sorry you got you stuff stolen Jay.
  22. Do people actually take it so seriously that they wouldn't show up because of arguments on the internet? I argue with Sun constantly. I'd fish with him anytime. I'll even make him a "special" pancake!! Seriously, there is no one on the board I wouldn't let in my house. But Wolfie's dog is banned!
  23. I almost never palm my reel and adjust the drag, often during the fight. But that's a artifact of fishing for years with reels that you could not palm. Palming just does not enter my mind. Maybe I should start trying to work it in. But what I do is start with it pretty loose, tighten if the fish takes a bunch of line (more line=more stretch=more tolerance to tight drag). Now that worked with straight mono on a traditional reel. Not so sure if the same thing applies with fly line/leader combination, though my thought is that the fly line still acts as a shock absorber when there is a significant amount of it out. As the fish gets close I tend to loosen the drag for the same reason (less line=less stretch=no tolerance to tight drag). Anyway, I'm sure the result of this is too much screwing around with the drag. But years of habit is hard to break.
