Fly Rod Raffle Only A Few Hours Left!!!

Thanks to Avalanche for kicking this off in style!! And to Uberfly! -
Hello Everyone, Jack Simpson at Amundson has graciously donated a Midge 3/4 wt (2 tips), 8 ft, 4 pc, backpack rod to be raffled for my Prostate Cancer Fundraiser. Here is the catalog page: This rod looks perfect for a day hunting down cutties, or whatever else might haunt your favorite small stream! I'm pretty sure FishTales is carrying these if you want to preview. So here is how this is going to work. Raffle "tickets" are $10.00 each. The tickets are purchased by donating to my Movember site at: Rick's Donation Site and clicking on the "donate to me" link. If you don't feel comfortable donating on line, PM me and we can set something else up. PLEASE put your FFC name somewhere when you donate! I will track entrants via the donation website. If you donate $10, one ticket, $20 is two, and so on. At the end of the month (December 1), I will put everyone into a hat and have my 12 yr old daughter do the draw (because it will make her happy). Good luck! And thanks again Jack!

thanks Crogg. I'll do that! And why do these things always have to turn into "my boots are better than your boots?" I have the Korkers and really like them. My bet is if I had bought the Simms, I'd really like them too. Same with Patagonia.

I'm changing mine after 1 season. But I did a lot of hiking on them when I should have switched over to my hiking soles. Just lazy. I don't know if I'm going to get new felts yet. Depends on how the vibram does.
-
Full season on mine, and as anyone who has fished with me this year can attest, that included a TON of walking/hiking. Never had a drop of trouble with the interchangeables coming off. I did have some grit get in the BOA and had to open it up to clean it out once. I did wear out a pair of felts and just bought their version of the vibram with the studs. Trying them out tomorrow. Love the boots.

Thanks for that. I don't have the slightest idea where you where. I hope I stumble upon it one day!

Geez Rev, what a suck up! Nice shots boys! -
See, I don't have the slightest issue with that viewpoint. I don't necessarily share it, because I don't think I've ever been bored catching fish. Totally a to each his own thing. You stated your opinion without trying to beat everyone over the head with your moral superiority, unlike the notable exception that started this whole post!

Schaaa--freakin--weeet! Chartreuse and white, my favorite saltwater colors.

Un- Modderated Thread?

Democracy prevails! Don't take much to get people mad around here. I thought it was funny. And since the total number of votes was still there along with the number of yes votes, it didn't take an advanced math degree to figure out the actual votes. Good lord. -
Ok, that is pretty serious. I think that if your Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner operates for a few hundred years it will eventually obtain consciousness, like that robot in that robot movie. It will then start to try to find companionship. It will find humans fat and disappointing. Then it will seek out robot companionship, probably a cute one that flies with one eye that seems to portray emotion. Then it will get captured by evil short junk yard workers who have shiny red eyes and wear hoods and operate this big slow junk yard machine. It will then be disassembled and the cute one eyed robot will be sad. The end.

Un- Modderated Thread?

There is a saltwater board I go to from time to time down in Texas. The main site is pretty family oriented and not much is tolerated. But they do have an un-moderated, or at least very lightly moderated section. It's a separate sign up and I'm not sure what the rules are, but my bet is it gets pretty nasty. Never signed up for it so I don't really know what it is like, but I'd imagine it could work here. My only concern would be bad feelings that could be generated on that area could spill over. I would hope that anyone who has thick enough skin to post on an unmoderated board would be able to not take anything there personal. Pythagoras, you seem to have the right attitude for it. Those who don't would become evident pretty quick! Edit: Nice poll. Stupid moderators!! -
What difference does it make if I catch 100 fish in a week or in a day? Should my limit be a yearly one to limit KILL? If I'm having a great day, I'm not going to stop because of fish mortality. I accept the fact that my chosen activity has consequences to the fish. If it really bothered me I wouldn't fish. Doesn't make me feel good that some of them die no matter how hard I try to treat them as well as I know how. But it doesn't, and I can't see it ever, make me feel so bad that I'll stop. If you want to set personal daily limits, that is fine. It is a noble position to take. I'm not that noble, and I suspect I'm not alone.

I think you should hate him most for getting most of the summer off. Or maybe for not training his replacement very well.
