I did look at old messages from when I bought a wind warrior blank, and they came from sales@amundson.ca

Can't make the party, as I'm off to the North Country. But you are on for the bet. Same as last time. See if I can level my record of hockey bets. -

Yeah, Hockey is the only game where you have to dig deep to win a championship. Sorry, that slipped my mind. Only thing more of a surety that a Texas tossin bullshit is a Canadian hockey fan thinking they have a monopoly on the whole "dig deep" thing. And I hope you choke on the whiskey!! Or at least that it causes you a bit of misery the day after. It's Canadian Whiskey after all. It probably isn't all that good. Going back pretty far for Crosby aren't you? I suppose that's the last time a Canadian Hockey Player did anything of note. And shouldn't you be fishing? -

Hah, surprised it took me that long to draw you out Rich! HIt's always the Sedin's fault! Couldn't be Lou giving up 12 goals in 46 shots. He's Canadian, therefore it must be the Swedes. Isn't it a Czech leading Boston's scoring? Where are all those Canadians (unless you count French Canadians) on the scoring list? Vancouver has shown a tendency to somewhat pack it in for some reason after they get a lead in games. Might cost them, but I wouldn't start planning my parade route just yet!! Sports arguments are all about hyperbole. Funner that way. -
I like the jet boats, if you are ever away from the river you can tell exactly where it is. And if anyone is commuting in from the south and have found a decent detour around the construction at Inglewood, I'd love to hear it. The approved detour is too damn long. I rode the streets (Ogden Road to 11 st, to 8 ave, then back on trail). It is actually shorter than the paths, but I don't really enjoy riding on Ogden in morning rush hour to tell the truth.

Beeker, I'm not trying to minimize your experience. As I said, you had a bad one. I was just pointing out that I have had a good experience with them. That's all. So if you want to take that as some sort of personal deal, ok. But that was not what it was meant to be.

My First Trip To Mec

Hey Ryan, I refuse to go the spandex route. I did get a pad for my seat and that seemed to help. Butt isn't sore anymore anyway. You will want to get a breathable rain jacket and pants I think. MEC has them (back to the original topic) for some ok prices. I actually ended up ordering mine through a company in the UK. Cost around 140 for the jacket and pants. Once they arrive I'll give you a review. If you wear anything unbreathable (like my golf rain pants), you will burn up. Leg is sore, but I can live with it. Rode in today, so it can't be that bad. -
My First Trip To Mec

There are down sides. They have closed the trail just before the bird sanctuary. The signs for the detour were pretty poor, so 3 of us (who were all at the closed trail trying to figure out which way to go) decided to just go through the train yard, then thru Inglewood. Worked great. In the afternoon, I decided to try the true detour route, but it frankly sucked hiney. So today, back thru the train yard. Coming home, I entered the yard and there was a BIG private property sign. I figured since they hadn't stopped me two times before, I'd be ok (which is really against character for me, I'm a rule guy to tell the truth). It was a bit wet, and one of the set of tracks crossed the road at an angle. My front tire hit the rail and just slid right out on that angle. I learned that road rash hurts way, way more at 51 than it did at 12. I learned that nice golf wind jackets do not stand up well to sliding down the road, much like both my legs and my right elbow. Gloves however are FANTASTIC pieces of equipment! And maybe the real detour does not suck as much hiney as I thought. -
But do they have a dock that I can drive my jet boat, if I had one, right up to and exchange the rod?

Nice, buddy! Mine is a urban style bike as well, but with more road type tires. I'm sure you will love it. I'm actually surprised how much I am liking the riding. I started out at about 15 KM each way, and I'm up to around 20 each way now. Been riding pretty much every day, except one day when it was absolutely pouring. -
Not trying to dissuade you from your opinion. No chance I could do that as you had a bad experience. I'm just stating mine soothers on this site can see another side from a satisfied customer. And I know a few of the guys on the front end of Amundson. I would disagree with your opinion that they are donating for advertising. While of course they get good press for it, I would counter that they don't sell many rods by donating to a couple of obscure fund raising events. Some companies seem to try to give back. My experience with Amundson is that they are one of those companies, or at least the people I deal with are. In other words, I stand by my opinion as well.

Didn't Chicago absolutely hammer the Canucks one game? Or was it San Jose? Can't remember, as both went home long ago. Boston can't hang with Vancouver. Not deep enough. They got their one huge effort game in a game Vancouver did not need. Reality is about to come and slap them right in the face. Or maybe stick a finger in their mouth. Whatever. Edit: I mean, obviously after the beat down in game 3, no chance Vancouver can recover. I should change my opinion again sometime in game 5 I'm sure. -
I've always been curious as to what 4 wt reel people recommend for using while fishing from a jet boat.
-
3 rods, 2 reels, no problems. Oh, and multiple donations to various local fund raisers as well. I have nothing but good things to say about Amundson. Wish every rod company supported the local fishing community so well. And in the interest of equal time, TFO does a great job of supporting the local fishing community as well.

My son and I are signing up as well. I've never fished any of those streams, so it will be fun to walk some new water and hopefully help them regain their potential. -
Taco, don't know what it was like further south, but I fished a couple of lakes (one a neighborhood and one a big dugout at a farm). The fish were far more active- and pulling MUCH harder. I think they may actually think spring is coming, though it was only +4 at 11 am where I was on Saturday.
-
We fished deep and slow at a neighborhood lake yesterday. Ok, uber fished deep and slow, and I did after I saw him catch a couple! Got 4 nice fish in the last hour or so. Still not fast and furious, but getting better.......
-
I make a big buy at Icky every year. I use them for all my "stock" flies.

I wanted to post this pic from a fish I caught at a neighborhood pond yesterday afternoon. This is to show the difference between a lake fish and river fish. While this girl is pretty fat, she is not the fattest one I've caught in this lake. I did not get a measurement on her as she was pretty damn difficult to handle, as you can see. I hesitate to guess and her girth makes her seem longer than she is. Lower 20s would be my guess and definitely 4 lb or more. Sorry for the arms extended photo and the fish not behaving itself. As I said, she was tough to handle. My buddy's daughters wanted to keep it to eat. I told them we would keep a smaller one. Haven't caught a small one yet, hopefully that continues!
-
I used to go there a lot when I was just learning. It is a great place to learn to cast, with willing fish to boot.

I think you may be missing our point Pete. I'm not talking about stopping all fishing for bullies in bullie water, I'm talking about stopping all fishing period in bullie water. That would be the equivalent of stopping black bear hunting in grizzly country to prevent the possibility of what happened the the grizz those boys shot. (I'm not advocating this, just using it as an example) And of course you can't h and r a bear. But my point, again, is that we as fishermen accidentally kill fish fish in the legal pursuit of our passion. Just like those boys with that bear. The bear just causes more outrage because its a big furry majestic mammal (and oh so much easier to anthropomorphize), not a fish with a brain the size of my fingernail. Anyway, no reason to beat this to death. I just caution people to be careful with this topic (myself included) as the ethics/morality in this is fuzzy for all us sportsmen.
