  1. So I went to Snopes to find out if this was true, or an urban legend. The Snopes page said that they were unsure at this time, but that all of their male staff was out investigating. On a related note, Levi Strauss has released their latest Quarterly Report which showed a unexpected rise (no pun intended) in wallet sales.
  2. Wait a minute, are we supposed to worry if our stories, comments, observations, or witty little quips get groans? Holy crap. If that were really true, I'd have what, like 6 posts? How many would Bobloblaw have?
  3. Birchy, Anybody can tell a funny joke (I liked that one Taco) and get a laugh. It takes true talent to continue to tell unfunny jokes and continue to get laughs. Maybe not a lot of laughs..... Actually, this one was pretty funny.
  4. Tell ya what my man. Give it to me and I promise you I'll fish it!
  5. Al, Posted. Here ya go: http://www.2coolfishing.net/ttmbforum/show...789#post1389789
  6. Chris, I looked at completed listings and found a couple that had sold for the $60 range, with shipping. The best was a 3-4 that sold for under $40 with $8 shipping.
  7. Al, There is a fishing website in Texas that has a fly fishing section. I saw a kid with a picture of a two hander he uses in the surf and the massive spanish mac he caught with it. You could either join and ask question or just send me the question and I'll ask it. There are not that many people fly fishing down there, so the responses can be slow. Also, I have seen some spey questions on the board, and lots of people saying it wasn't effective in salt (?) I actually asked Gordon about that when he was here and he said that was BS! http://www.2coolfishing.net/ttmbforum/ Scroll down and you will see the fly fishing link
  8. SJW, I think Max told me once that they were ALL fishable. That true?
  9. I'm suddenly hearing beeping..... Yes, I'll take some PTs, and again, dinner!
  10. Awesome. Dinner at your house? Actually, I've not had much luck on the bow with Hare's ear (could be because I don't use it enough) but have done very well down south. I'll give those elk ear hair nymphs a roll though. You know where I'll be, I'll be listening for your dog!
  11. I absolutely love that picture, the line looks like it is glowing.
  12. Hey monger, that's the first time I've seen you without a hat. You stole my hairstyle!! Looks good my man. Sweet fish by the way.
  13. I haven't seen that in years. I love the Pete Townsend "bowling" moves the kid makes with the guitar. Too much. I have a really good friend from the Navy that knew those guys back in Long Island. Said they were just a kick. My favorite with "Neidermeyer" was "I Wanna Rock". They dressed funny, but they sure were fun. My son's Social homework tonite is to write lyrics (on Sustainable Development, which should be fun) to any song. One of the kids in his project group plays guitar, and they picked "All Right Now" by Free. So I looked for it on Youtube and got this: This was made back in 1969, only 12 yrs or so before Twisted Sister. I find it amazing how simple it was in 69, compared to all the production value from Twisted Sister. If you go to the link, check out the Slash/Brian May with Paul Rogers doing the same song sometime in the 90s. Interesting comparisons. Edit: I also found this by Brian May (stupid YouTube!) showing how he used delays. Unrelated, but I'm bored. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bM_gyWbPZs...feature=related
  14. You guys do any good? One of the spey casters I saw was wading waist deep. I thought "brrrrrr"
  15. I actually like the 3 out of 100K Canadian stat. The murder rate in Mexico is far higher than in Canada. But that includes the border town and the absurd amount of drug murders (Mexicans killing Mexicans, which is of course tragic as well). But if there really were only 3 out of 100K, then that is 30 out of 1 Million, which corresponds almost exactly to Edmonton. So if that stat is correct, you are almost exactly as safe in Mexico as Edmonton (and in both cases, if you avoid the wrong parts of the city, even safer). I would not have thought that, to tell you the truth. Learned something new today.
  16. If he gets lucky and hits a chinook (very warm temps), the fly fishing on the bow can be fantastic. I'm sure someone here, possible myself depending on what my wife tells me my schedule is) would love to show him the river.
  17. Hey, watch it Neidermeyer, or I'll knock you senseless with a golf ball!
  18. Potlicking from a southern fishing perspective is stealing someones water. It was a reference to the spey casters ability to cast all the way across the river and steal one's run! It was a slight exaggeration!
  19. I have a question about fishing streamers in the winter: I know I need to use enough weight to ensure I get it (or them) down. But do you significantly slow down your retrieve as well? Let it sit longer at the end of the swing? I would also think that dead drifting or stripping very slowly when casting upstream might work as well? Any help here would be appreciated. My streamer effectiveness is near 0.
  20. Saw two guys Spey fishing below Cranston today. I was out walking my dog on the Chaparral side (and doing a bit of casting myself) worrying that they may start to potlick my water (I don't know if potlick translates, but I'm sure the meaning is intuitive). Sure can cover water with those bad boys! Looked like fun!
  21. Sundancefisher, Of course they did, just like he disputed their facts. My point with the above was: He is blaming politicians and the media for exaggerating the facts (which of course is probably true), while he is downplaying it, while being a politician and media member himself (and a bit of a fraud as well). I don't put any more credence in his argument than I would Al Gore's. Actually, maybe less.
  22. Here is a blurb about Mr. Moncton in Wikipedia. The source is in the Wikipedia list of references. In 1987, Monckton founded a consultancy company, Christopher Monckton Ltd., where he served as a director until he retired because of ill health in 2006. In 1999, he created and published the Eternity puzzle, a geometric puzzle which involved tiling a dodecagon with 209 irregularly shaped polygons called Polydrafters. A £1m prize was won after 18 months by two Cambridge mathematicians.[6] By that time, 500,000 puzzles had been sold. Monckton claimed that he had to sell his home, Crimonmogate, to pay the prize;[6] he later admitted he fabricated the story as a publicity stunt.[7] A second puzzle, Eternity II, was launched on 28 July 2007, with a prize of $2 million. Monckton's critics charge that "[his] science is self-taught and his paper qualifications nonexistent"[16] and that "he is trying to take on the global scientific establishment on the strength of a classics degree from Cambridge."[24] For his part, Monckton takes the view that it is "a very modern notion that you need paper qualifications to pronounce on anything and it comes from the socialist idea that people need to be trained in the official, accepted, dogmatic truths."[16] If you continue to read the Wikipedia article, you will also learn that he was a newspaper editor. Anyway, we have a man who committed fraud, trained in Classics, a member of the mainstream media, and a conservative political adviser calling other scientists findings into questions. Not that any of this necessarily makes him wrong, but it does put his speech above in a bit of context. Edit: And I think that him calling himself a co-laureate could be a bit of sarcasm on his part. But I could be mistaken....
  23. Couldn't resist this. I think this clip may have been on the site before, but it is certainly appropriate for this long running discussion. I particularly like the end.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ox8cQZ0ojn4
  24. OMG!! It's MY mom!!!! Edit: I've been edited without my permission!! Funny though!
  25. Dang man, just how many people am I going to have to take on here? Do I need to mention, again, that Calgary got beat out by Washington DC?
