I really don't understand Valentine's day. I don't know why I have to celebrate our relationship on some day where everything to do with the day skyrockets in price. That's what an anniversary is for, and guess what a dozen roses don't cost $60 bucks!! What a crock!!
from what I remember, the way that I tied that was build extended body and attach, then dub up to where post will be, build post, wrap hackle and secure down, then dub the front of the post, and whip finish
yeah they are pretty tricky to tie, I was using a thin pin to use as a base for the body, then pulling the pin out when I was done tying the body
Here's one that I tied for one of the competitions last year.
Dude I saw that vid a couple of months ago and when I saw that fly land and that tarpon crashed that fly I was all like "THAT WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT"!
that trip will be next year when I get a bigger rod for those bad boys! Those fish would probably crush my 8wt!
Man I'm super stoked for the next two months!! Rick if you got some secret patterns for those reds man , Send them my way!!!
Glen, Gary, trust me dudes I will have a full detailed picture post when I get back!!!
Max, buddy you have it right on man!! BIGGER BETTER BADDER FISH BROTHA!!!!!
This year is going to be SICK!
I'll be in Orlando and will be fishing the mosquito lagoon and area. I asked him about juvi tarpon in the area and he said that there is a chance that we can hook a few but he also said that due to a big cold front that moved in alot of the juvies got trapped in shallow waters and said that they could have a bad season for fishing them. I was thinking about fishing for the larger ones but I will would have to spend more money. The size of the Reds that these guys are catching will be more than enough!
Here's the guide that I will be going with

Well with January being as good as it was seeing so many nice fish caught in the bow, for myself it just keeps getting better!!! Come March it will be off to BC for some steelie's for four days which is going to be way cool, as well I just booked my guide for April when I head down to Orlando for some reds and snook!!!
Can't even match that, but I was fishing the bow and my buddy calls me to go to the highwood. He shows up and stupid me puts my rod in the back of his truck and upon arrival all super stoked for some bullies realize that my rod is sitting under his truck bed storage bin and of course its stuck. After lifting it up i saw that there was a crack right down the 2nd peice. We ended up fishing with only one rod.
I had a blast down there today met quite a few people which is always great and to be able to talk nothing but flyfishing and fly tying for nine hours is a bonus!!
See ya all there tomorrow again after I hit the bow!!
I agree, the flyanglersonline site is a great learn too site, as far base materials Figure out what you need to tie and buy the materials for that pattern. You will find that you're materials will grow pretty fast.
GRHE
Hare's mask
Turkey quill
Gold Ribbing
And of course the size of hooks you will need
Don'f forget to look around the house for materials too, an old lamp can give you all the copper wire you will ever need!
We were contiplating doing again this year anyhow starting up in the athabasca area and working our way down. THere's alot of water up there and some great fishing. Looking forward to it!
