Dubbing is probably my weak point for tying. And “tips” on how to make a nice dubbing noddle?

  7. i havnt caught anything with them yet but I’ll keep trying. If successful I’ll tie more.
  8. I had found your old thread saying where you were at when it happened. I used to bycicle the highway from calgary to Banff every year to camp and fish “my spincast days” and it’s crazy how little consideration cyclists are given by the average driver. I hope the recovery is going well and that you get full use of the arm back. On a side noti looked the lake up on anglers atlas app,it didn’t tell me any species were in there. Besides bass what else have you caught there?
  9. Lol any rod would be a upgrade from the pflueuger 5/6 weight I got to learn on. I thought learning I might break the tip or whatever, but after fishing every 2 days since April I have yet to have an issue.
  10. With the TFO rod having a lifetime warranty, and the ability to go to the shop and have it repaired in about 10 minutes”so they say” I figured it might be worth it. Even with the lower price compared to say a crazy$$$ sage rig.
  11. I’m looking at buying a new rig this spring coming up. I’m thinking about a TFO 9 weight for pike walleye and Muskie. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with a TFO “temple fork outfitters” rod. Just looking for input before I spend the money.
  12. What an amazing idea, this needs to be used anywhere fish of any kind are blocked from their headwater spawning grounds.
  13. My first fish on the fly was a tiger there this spring. Little feller but I was excited just the same.
  14. I hope your recovery is well on it’s way.
  15. I found if you go upstream far enough you leave the off road vehicles behind. I caught several cut throat up near North ghost recreation area camp ground. It has changed since the floods but still good fishing.
  16. I’ve gotta dear hair popper I tied that I’d love to test on them
  17. Where did you find the bass I havnt seen anywhere in Alberta with them?
  18. I found that lake newal at kinbrook island park is great for pike. I use a clouser minnow variant and it works well, the fly just moves over or around thick weeds because the hook point is on top of the fly not under it. I have also found that you can use as low as a 6 weight rod”that’s my rod” it helps if you use a Belgian cast so get the fly out there because the rod is a little under weight for the flies that would attract a pike or walleye. Now don’t laugh but as we all know pike are not leader shy. For a leader I use 8’ of 50lbs braided line to a 30lbs tippet ring and use 30lbs nickel titanium wire tied to the tippet ring and a heavy snap swivel as my predator leader. Havnt lost a pike on that yet.

even fat head minnows we’re going after these little ones.
  20. i havnt tested this pattern yet. I’m hoping we get a few more nice fall evenings to give it a try.
  21. Thx spark plug I just started fly fishing and fly tying this summer.
  22. I havnt tryed loon uv res yet,but I found solar res is a great product. I cure the res with my uv light then put it in the natural sun for a full day before I use them. I have yet to have the res “peal off”. I use this method on the thin/thick and flex uv res.
