Anyone look at the J-hook nymphing technique. May try that this evening.

 

Yeah that was interesting. Might try it next time out as well. Interesting theory.. make it drift a bit differently to get the trouts attention.

Thanks for the video link Tman. I have a ton of respect for this Jim M. Took a course with him through Country Pleasures a couple years back and came away with a whole new understanding of the bow and some great new techniques. Worth every cent and then some.

This technique adds motion to the fly, but it's important that your flys represent a species of swimming nymph/emerger, such as Baetis, Mahogany Duns, Caddis emergers, ect. Then, it makes sense to swim your presentation like the natural nymphs/emergers you are trying to immitate.
