Hawgstoppah Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Ha! Greg you got about as much chance as I do tonight eh? I hope your presentation entices an aggressive strike from one of those beauties lined up at the back of the pool Quote
lonefisher Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well that valentines day was......... about 7000 kms from perfect. But atleast I got to go fishing for a bit Quote

Quote
flyangler Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well here's my update. Not that it rivals Toolman's or Lynn's in good humor, nor even the best in self pity. I did some good work in the needle chucking field yesterday. Lectured a friend that even though I fully agree that Valentine's day is over commercialized, he should not pass up an excellent excuse to tell his wife he loves her in any way he thinks will make them both happy. Tied up a bunch of flies for donation to Reeling and Healing. Made myself a dinner of garlic smashed potatos and peas (that's the self pity part). Read my emails from my beloved. He did not get my Valentine's e-card. He trotted out some of the brand new French that he learned on his business trip to Switzerland to sweet talk me and claimed he did not know that the Swiss make chocolate. He gets home tonight. I think I'll bake a cake. I think he's yankin my chain. On the chocolate part, that is. Quote
Lawrence Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I really don't understand Valentine's day. I don't know why I have to celebrate our relationship on some day where everything to do with the day skyrockets in price. That's what an anniversary is for, and guess what a dozen roses don't cost $60 bucks!! What a crock!! Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well. At least I made it home and had a candlelight dinner with the funbuster. No flowers... I gave her a handmade card though... melted her like butter. And then the evening went south. I had to sit through West Side Story. Now don't get me wrong, but the only gangs that would be dancing around like that NOW, would be the ones with a misguided sexual orientation... heh... jee whiz anyways... I actually laffed my arse off at most of it, the cheese factor was very high. *Goes into a back alley and starts yelling MARIA MARIA* Quote
Tako Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Stupid azz holiday as fas as I'm concerned. Women are a waste of time and money thatt could be put towards fishing or hunting. Got away with $10 on mom this year. Better 'n' last year, was well over a hundred on the old lady What a waste Quote
birchy Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well.. with comments like that you won't have to worry about it.. cause you'll be staying single! Quote

birchy Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Here's hoping haha.. I was going to add "that's probably the plan". Quote
ladystrange Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 wow. now that is the way to make up for being away for valentines day. i'm not a dark chocolate fan but i bet the chili and cognac are both amazing. let us know... pllllzzzz. my mouth is wathering just thinking about it Quote
albannachxcuileag Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 IF you want to blame anyone for Valentine's day then blame the Catholic church. This was originally a Greek festival when on that day the priests would pair up couples for a years sexual congress. This did not sit well with the latter religion and it was banned until that jerk Valentine came along and changed it - served him bloody well right as he was executed by his church later on. So why waste money on one certain day when you can probably save a bundle by taking him or her out some other time and not get ripped off by the commercialisation that surrounds it now. If it is for couples then why is it biased 99% in favour of the female? Quote
Weedy1 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 So why waste money on one certain day when you can probably save a bundle by taking him or her out some other time and not get ripped off by the commercialisation that surrounds it now. $11.99 for 183 grams of Turtles. That's $27.50 a pound. No commercialization there now is there? Quote

polegrl Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 Wow! What a bunch of syrupy romantics! If you're complaining about spending money on flowers and chocolate on a particular day - you don't get it. Valentines is just an opportunity to show a special someone (male or female) that you care. Society assumes that women want flowers & chocolate but I think all that women want is a token that their guy appreciates them (the more personalized - the better). As for guys, like I said, it's easy to know what you want. Quote
lonefisher Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Hmmm girls think we are so easy to figure out.... "we know what guys want"..... not true sometime we would just like to come home to a big boquay (boocay, bouquet I dunno) of flowers or a singing candygram or a string quartet at work..... Maybe some cuddling round a warm fire or just some talking..... were not so 1 track minded as you think...... Quote
lonefisher Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Had you going there for a second didn't I..... Nah we just wanna knock boots Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I'm proud to say that Valentine's day was a success and everyone left with a smile. Quote
Glenbow Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I drove 680kms to get this big lug for Valentine's. It was a hit. Plus now I get to have someone else carry a bunch of gear this summer! (No, not my GF, the dog!) Quote

(No, not my GF, the dog!) Now, if you can just train him to crap heart-shaped turds, it'll be like Valentine's several times a day for many years to come... Quote

They don't fight with each other, they don't talk back, they're low maintenance and largely cost-free. Lube job and a workout now n then and all is well. What more do you need? Tako.....gotter down pat Quote
