monger Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 There is a good chance I am going to look for a bonefish in the spring. I was thinking a good boot might be wise. Any one try these Orvis Andros hikers? Quote
monger Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 Leaning toward Bahamas. Never done this before Quote
Dangus Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Can’t help you much. In Mexico, Used wading boots the first time I went, flip flops the second time. Then used flip flops and Simms flats sneaker for my last few trips in Maui. On sand, some sort of sandal like teva’s Or whatever, might be good enough. Can’t see those orvis boots keeping all the sand out...and if you can’t keep it all out then what’s the point really? That being said, they look like they’d keep more sand out than the flats boots. bcubed Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Do bonefish eat egg-sucking wooly buggers? Ive heard good things about the andros. Anything to keep sand out, more importantly from my experience is keeping out micro-coral. That stuff killlls your feet if you're wearing open sandals Quote
screaminreel Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Whatever you buy, make sure you have room for a decent wading sock for saltwater. Simms makes a great pair that pick up all the sand and tiny coral. 1 Quote
bowbonehead Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Hey Rob, I am sure you know someone with spares you could borrow....I have a few pairs but they are size 12 if that works I will be heading south myself but not until April.....going with the Doc or DE or family.....as has been mentioned socks are the key and its hard to beat the Simms wet wading socks for durability and keeping the sand to a minimum.... monger Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 BA, I will be getting lessons from DE. Feet only Sz 10...but thanks for the offer. Hopefully I can catch a fish or two Quote
monger Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 Bcubed I may just have to bring a monger bugger just to drive you crazy. Probably fool one of those silly Permit things Quote
