bigfry
So the wife ended up booking a couple days at the two jack lake otentik campground. its not really camping but that's besides the point. has anyone camped at or near this campground. I was hoping to bring the drift boat to do some fishing with the kids on the lake. does anyone know if I can launch a drift boat into this lake/ thanks! RedBeard
You'd probably have to be one of the first there, but I'm betting you can launch from this gravel beach at the parking lot
bigfry
thanks redbeard. but it looks like the lake is closed for fishing from sept 8 and we are going out sept 18, do you recommend any other lake around the area that will be open hold fish and allow boat access? McLeod
The lake closes Sept 5th.. Head to the Bow unless you want to hike.
trailhead
Unless you are familiar with the Bow in that area I wouldn't drift it. Lots of sweepers, logjams and sneaky channels.

ÜberFly
There are Gap Lake and Grotto just outside of Canmore/Exshaw. Of course there is Minniwanka (sp?), next door, but it's big water, not sure if it under the same regs.
Nachako
Minnewanka is under the same regs. Your fishing licence will also work in Yoho ( god I love that word ) one of my favourite Mountian lakes that you can drive to is Emerald lake open until Oct 31. Healthy population of rainbows and brookies
bigfry
Thanks for the useful info nachako, do you know if emerald lake has boat access, or a launch where I can launch my drift boat from?
SilverDoctor
Yes there is a boat launch. It is privat so you best phone beforhand. I fished there with my canoe a few years ago and they didn't charge me to launch but you best phone for details on a bigger boat. Stunning lake with lots of small rainbows.

Nachako
Nice pic. It's one of my favorite lakes for trolling a line behind a canoe and watching the sun go down. The canoe rental is done at 6pm. If you walk 30 meters past the rental dock down the wide path. You can mabe launch there. Are you able to lift or carry this boat ?
