bcubed
Just bought our first place, so been doing some minor DIY repairs, and have an odd one. Was recaulking the shower stall, following all the instructions on the "Dap Kwik Seal", left it for 36 hours as per the instructions. Felt it, felt dry and sturdy so had a shower. Once it got wet, it seemed to un-cure, was allowing water through and had some of caulk coming off at touch. Left it overnight, again hard in the morning, but again, shower seemed to uncure it. Ideas? Shitty caulk? Thanks
Ricinus
Maybe some contaminant on the shower that's stopping the caulk from sticking?? Mike
ÜberFly
Are your saying that your caulk goes from stiff to flacid Brent!! Spend some $ on decent caulking... Dap makes goods stuff but not for that application! Buy "GE Silicon II" (General Electric). It's in a gold and red tube! About twice the price of the DAP crap!
bcubed
Ya, after reading the reviews of the Dap stuff, it doesn't do well with water (funny considering it is 'Kitchen and Bath Sealant'). Just didn't want to buy a full caulking gun, thanks for the help.
Tungsten
If the old stuff was 100% silicon nothing else will stick to it.Clean with alcohol let dry and replace with 100% silicon.Make sure to check exp date on the new stuff.
