SilverDoctor Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Oh boy, not so easy to find work out there any more. Been to quite a few interviews in my specialty (marketing/graphics/web) but get the same story, overqualified. Most of the people are the age of my sons and have told me to my face that they are afraid and intimidated by the quality of my work and that I will steal their jobs because of my experience (over 23 years). Most say I am too experienced which is weird, too experienced to make a modest living. Doing a bit of freelance now building web sites. Not looking for a massive wage just some office work or something.Trying employment outside my experience but just seem to be spinning my wheels. Where are all those jobs they are talking about? Any ideas for the older worker in his mid 60’s Quote
Ricinus Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Sorry to hear, Lornce. A real b!tch this getting old, isn't it.. I'm sure you will find something Cheers Mike Quote
Gaffer Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 You might want to look into the City, or not for profit sector. My experience has been that these sectors are filled with inexperienced people who cut their teeth there and take off. Such places may welcome an experienced employee with some real world skills. Muffin Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Glad to hear you found a job Lornce. A shame about the over experience thing, I can imagine that it would be extremely frustrating to hear. Quote
fishinglibin Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 My associates in Red Deer need someone for sales, prefer some good sales experience, and pretty good company to work for, plus you get to fish the red deer. Can PM for info. Hope this is okay to post, as I gain nothing by it except get someone a pretty good job. 1 Quote
