fishbike
Anyone know of a good source for thicker foam sheets for a DIY fly box? I tried Michaels but they only had thin sheets (2-3mm) Thanks in advance
Rich
Foam underlay for floors from home depot may work
fishinglibin
I bought a sheet similar to thickness in many boxes at locals stores for about $12. You may find thicker for less but I like this type and set up a michaels box as well. Depends on your budget, but I like it.
TerryH
You also might consider making a sandwich of two or three layers of the thin sheets. I do this for some foam fly patterns. Use one of the 3M spray on adhesives.
SilverDoctor
There is a white foam packing material that I actually like better; I've found it occasionally in packing material that electronics come in. its more open cell than the colored sheet foam at Michaels. Looking for more myself for some of those boxes I've bought. Seems to take an awful lot of hooks without dulling.
wayne
Try going to one of the local orthotic and prosthetic shops they have foam from 1/16" up to 1/2" in different colors and densities. If your in lethbridge I can set you up. Wayne
screaminreel
It's a bugger trying to find the right foam here in Calgary. I had to bring mine in from the UK. I have a few extra sheets of Plastazote 12"x8" x 5mm thick. Just a hair over 1/8" Has adhesive backing. $10 per sheet.
Chadillac
fabricland at northland mall has an assortment of thicknesses, not sure about the length and width of the "sheets".
