pokerfish
Firstly, I have not seen a sculpin this large on the Oldman before, Secondly, I thought the snake bit off more than he could chew.

FraserN
Definitely a wandering garter snake. I see a few each year in the NW stretch of the Bow, but I have never seen one preying on a fish before.
pokerfish
Yup, he ate the whole thing, but he was in a hole between rocks, and no picture available without disturbing him further

Guest ArtVandelay
That's a very cool series of shots right there. Pictures of wolves in the wild, sculpin eating snakes, bikini clad snowboarders - say what you will, FFC rocks!

hopdrop
Very cool photos. That is one big, dirty sculpin. I fished the San Juan last year and saw a snake put the hurt on a duck. The duck eventually got away, but it was the coolest thing that happened that day, save for the guide pissing in a 5gal bucket. In the boat. Just before lunch. He gave me a break on the rate because I paid cash and didn't need a receipt- something about the IRS killing the little man... If anyone needs income tax/tailwater advice, I know a guy.
