dryfly Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 The Prairie Rattlesnake, is the only subspecies of the Western Rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis) found in Alberta. I photographed these snakes on October 9, 2010 near Foremost, Alberta. There are three individual specimens in these photographs. See here... Special thanks to the kind rancher who showed this wintering den to me. I appreciate being allowed access to take these photos. I plan on going back while the warm weather lasts. Clive Quote
Heimdallr Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Wicked pictures Clive, thanks for sharing! Cool opportunity you had there. I remember seeing a Rattlesnake near Drumheller when I was a kid. Quote
Bandi Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Beautiful photos, Clive! I even more liked your Spring 2010 album. Magnificent species of birds and mammals. Quote
monger Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Hey Clive, after photos you can head over to the trout pond in town and exercise some 'bows. Cool looking critters Quote
Jeffro Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Awesome shots Clive. Theres still a few hibernaculums in those coulees that have escaped the dynamite over the years. Good to see a healthy looking hen. Quote
Gaffer Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Great looking pics there. I also love the pics of the bridge. My wife's uncle is the electrical contractor that set that up. You would not believe the red tape, headaches & expense that he had to go throught to get that done. Andrew Quote
