The Prairie Rattlesnake, is the only subspecies of the Western Rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis) found in Alberta.

 

I photographed these snakes on October 9, 2010 near Foremost, Alberta. There are three individual specimens in these photographs.

Special thanks to the kind rancher who showed this wintering den to me. I appreciate being allowed access to take these photos.

 

I plan on going back while the warm weather lasts.

Awesome shots Clive. Theres still a few hibernaculums in those coulees that have escaped the dynamite over the years. Good to see a healthy looking hen.

Great looking pics there.

 

I also love the pics of the bridge. My wife's uncle is the electrical contractor that set that up. You would not believe the red tape, headaches & expense that he had to go throught to get that done.
