dude1125
I don't watch a lot of TV but wish there was a good fishing show on the tube. The last show that I really liked was "Fishing with John" . Are there any fans of that show here? I guess it's hard to do a fishing show and not have it turn into an Infomercial. Bigtoad
I like Sport Fishing on the Fly because it's usually quite local (thus relevant), doesn't have the stupid infomercial feel that huge sponsorship seems to bring, they have a fly-tying section where they tie what they're using, and it's pretty low-key/low budget which I like. Even better, they are now putting full episodes on the web. http://www.sfotf.ca/ Cheers.

hopdrop
Sport Fishing on the Fly is good. Not a huge fan of Flymax. To many 9 minute guitar solos and no information ie, techniques, flies ect. The Trout Bum DVD series is awesome.

KnotLikely
I want to like Flymax, and think it has huge potential, but the entire show looks like a half hour preview. My wife thought it was a commercial, and couldn't believe it when I told her that the entire show is like that. They go to a lot of great places, and have some great hosts, how about hearing more from the hosts, about the places, rigs, flies, fish etc. Other than nice scenery, and fish porn, the show doesn't really provide anything to the viewer. The New Fly Fisher is probably the most educational, and does a great job of covering the entire country. I love the On the Bench segments of SFOTF, and the fact that Don and his guests do a great job of explaining tactics, just too many still water episodes for my liking, and a few too many episodes on the Columbia. acurrie
SFOTF all the way. Don, Dale, And Chan rock it out. They break down the tactics, techniques, waters, flies, etc etc and have fun doing it. The quality of the filming has gone up in the past year because they got a new camera, but the older episodes are still lower quality. I could also do without numerous Still water Rainbow shows near Kamloops, but I think they are gonna mix it up for the new season. New FF is OK, but it is almost shot like an instructional video, a little to slow some times. Phil and Chan are good on it, but like Tallieho said, I can't stand Spicer. Flymax shows more video of Car rides, and slow motion casting then actual fishing.
dude1125
I don't get WFN with my cable package. I do go to youtube and different website for the educational stuff. The fly tying stuff is great to watch right at the flying tying bench. I guess a want a TV show that is purely entertainment. I would be in to watching a series that was take off of one the John Gierach books.

wingshooter
The most informative show on WFN was Fishing with Oliver Edwards this guy was king on getting inside the trouts head. The level of detail was great however I think it is not on anymore. But he has some stuff on youtube. As for Canadain shows Daryll Kronzy is the biggest jerk going he treats his guides like slaves and eats everything he catches. Sportfishing Bc is one of my favs but he is also stuck in a rut near a Kamloops trout lake. Nice catch goes to some great places but I think her director smokes too much weed as the artsy side comes out too much. Mark Krupa is great if he stays away from the vodka. It can make a long winter bareable. I can't wait for a realityTV show about guides in Alberta beating the crap out of each other for a place to dredge san juans on the bow and maybe some oar jousting at the launch........... Guest Sundancefisher
I will watch "Fishing the Flats" but primarily for the scenery and secondly to see how bad Henry can flyfish to make me feel better about my skills...

I'll watch that show!!!! What are the guides names...... Nick and Relic and they hang out a fishing shop owned by Molly? Seriously I'm surprised they haven't done a fishing show in that fake reality or doc style. I guess fishing shows are cheaper to produce than reality shows
