  1. Or maybe he's just one of those people who realizes fishing can be about more than just catching fish...
  2. I actually talked to one of the FC cops about it back in the spring. He said that it was technically not allowed but that the Lafarge forest (or whatever it's called) doesn't mind or enforce it so I wait until we get there before unhooking his leash. He also doesn't chase birds or any other animals - he only seems to be interested in fetching his ball and sniffing fish while I release them. The rest of the time he just sits on the grass or stands in the water watching me fish. Brad, at least I only smell like it and am not full of it
  3. Guess I'm breaking 3 laws then. Anyone please feel free to turn me in.
  4. I do this all the time except off to the side of the trail, and even below 22x. The trick is that I pick the bag back up on my way out. I also, and this is the really crazy part, pick up other bags I see on the trail on my way out and toss them in the garbage at the parking lot. Hell, I've even been known to use one of my dog bags to pick up what someone else didn't. I know, it's really mind boggling to do something about it instead of bitching about it on an internet forum.
  5. I think the single spey is pretty much a switch cast with a change of direction. Could be mistaken though.
  6. Sorry, I think you're incorrect. Check the regs... It Is Unlawful To: Use a line in angling equipped with more than three hooks (e.g., three hooks, or three single-hook lures, or one three-hook lure). Use a lure in angling with more than three hooks as part of it. Use a hook with more than three points on a common shaft (see Important Definitions).
  7. Nice vids. Looking forward to more...
  8. Not aware of any shops in the city called "Fly Shop"... Peter, I honestly don't feel that one trip to a shop is enough to form a conclusive opinion. For example, I went into Country Pleasures once and didn't have a great experience. Went back on a day when Mike and Brent were there and things were quite the opposite. Sometimes people just have an off day. Personally I shop at Fish Tales, Country Pleasures, and West Winds regularly because no single shop carries all the gear and flies I like and each one has staff that I enjoy talking to.
  9. Let's be careful out there... http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Calgary+...1884/story.html
  10. Are you sure that was Fish Tales? Last time I checked they didn't carry Simms.

  12. As opposed to alcohol? And if you legalized it, you would remove this from the equation. I don't partake of the green stuff myself but I don't have any issues with legalization.

    Clouser

    Pretty sure it's DNA.
  14. Bingo! Edit: And not just enforcement, but enforcement with teeth. Enough warnings, let's see some real fines issued and equipment confiscated.

    Streamers! Sos

Try the search function. Lots of good threads here on how to fish streamers.
  16. Looks like this video is out now. http://www.skagitmaster.com/
  17. In my opinion Simms makes the best waders out there. Have a pair of G3s and G4Zs and wouldn't trade them for anything. Very durable and the warranty/repair service is top notch. Just make sure the fit is right because they have lots of options - S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL plus king, long, and short in each.
  18. Remember it's actually three hooks. Some flies have two hooks on them...
  19. Loomis has something like that but it's only in the US. Maybe that's what they were talking about and misunderstood. Nobody can guarantee a package to anywhere in the world in one day.
  20. Agreed. Calgary is quite clean compared to large cities in Europe. Ever been to Dublin (Ireland not Ohio)? That's one he'll of a dirty city. Wolfie's European friends must be from small villages or something.
  21. If by small streams you mean cutty fishing I use an 8'2" 2wt for that. Lots of personal preference involved, but since you already have a 6wt it makes more sense to me to go with a 4wt than a 5wt.
  22. Yeah, colour to me is far less important in a streamer than the movement of the fly. I wouldn't tie a caddis pupa in those colours. I've never tried tying this particular streamer in "trout" colours, but I'm sure it would catch the same number of fish as the other colours I use.
  23. Except sometimes colour combinations that aren't supposed to work do... (that's hot pink and purple)
  24. Wait, so this guy actually posted that to a forum? If it was a fishing or outdoors forum please tell me they ripped him a new one...
  25. Heh, yeah some weird mixture of testosterone and saccharine now...
