Before I started tying my own I bought a bunch from Wholesale because of the price. Most of them would fall apart after one or two fish. Like most things, you get what you pay for.

The pic is a little small, but it looks like a Florida State Criminole to me. Is that Orien Harris standing over him?

Not really sure why you'd want to. The thing with polar bear is that under water it looks different than a lot of the other hair and fibres you can get because of the sheen Doc mentioned. If it's just a parachute post that's above the water it won't look significantly different than buck tail or whatever other post material you use.

I think the hollowness is negligible, especially since so many streamers have dumbell eyes and coneheads or lead wrapped hooks. Elk and deer hair are hollow as well and are used in bow river buggers and muddlers.

I use it for Clousers and intruders. I think you could probably use it to replace buck tail and similar furs on most streamers and probably traditional wet flies as well.

Man, I had Syracuse beating Butler in the sweet 16 round and Kansas beating Kentucky in the championship game in my bracket so at this point I have no clue. One way or the other Butler will be the underdog, so I guess I'll be going for them Monday night.

Yeah, that's the best part about it, just don't forget to sign them all. I got checked last summer and the CO was nice enough to hand it back to me with a pen because I hadn't signed it (clearly says "License not valid until signed"), but there's always a chance you'll run into one who's having a bad day...

Think I read somewhere that dacron is good for something like 10 years, but I'd imagine amount of use and under what conditions would probably factor in. 100 yards of backing is something like $10, so I'd rather replace mine every couple years than risk losing an $80 fly line.

Did they tweak the part that tears your fingers up when stripping streamers? I think it's fine as a dry fly line but I'll never use it on a spey rod again.

As much as I'd enjoy seeing that it would just give her more airtime. I'm sure she loved the whole cancellation thing for that reason alone. People like her thrive on the controversy because it just gives them more ammunition to translate into headlines.

With the weather warming up I'd tie a few streamers to chuck on that spey rod. Leeches, clousers, and bow river buggers should be all you need. For nymphs, I'd stick with what you listed - especially PT, SJW, CJ, GRHE, and princes plus stones. Might consider some para adams if you want to have some dries ready to go. Edit: Somehow completely forgot about caddis - sparkle pupa and evil weevils should cover it.

Do yourself a favour and take some lessons from a qualified instructor if you plan on getting into spey casting. Way easier to learn properly from the start than to break out of bad casting habits later on. Yes, I speak from experience.

It's just a MOAL leech variation tied on a wiggle tube instead. I've tied them the way you do and just thought this would be an interesting alternative. I found it's a little easier to tie them on the tube, mainly because I only have one vise. The other thing is the way I tie my MOALs they end up being a single hook fly because I start the rabbit pretty far back. With the tube version obviously you can easily change the hook if it gets bent or dull. Here are a couple I tied on shanks and 30lb dacron. They're also a lot longer than the tube version above.
