  1. I think it was the Lanark angler.
  2. Wow, never heard a thing about this until now. Thanks for helping spread the word.
  3. I finally got a charcoal (Broil King Keg) this winter and really love it, once you try it you'll never go back to gas. But having said that, my previous bbq was a propane Broil King Signet and it served me really well. Large cooking surface with 3 burners for direct or indirect cooking, a rotisserie with its own burner which I really liked, and enough room under the grates to put a small smoker pouch. You can get it in either propane or natural gas versions as well.
  4. Thanks troutfriend, that makes sense and clarifies things quite a bit.
  5. Thanks a lot for the link. I did not realise the Elbow was going to be realigned too! I'll have to spend some time looking over the plan in more detail.
  6. Just curious if anyone has heard what land will be swapped with the Tsuu T'ina Nation as part of the ring road deal? They are giving up waterfront land along the Elbow as part of the deal so I'm assuming they are going to be getting at least some waterfront land in return. Has anybody heard where this land is going to be yet?
  7. Just wondering if anybody knows what is going on with Powderface Trail? It was closed after the floods last year with claims that it was severely damaged. According to what I have read on some other hiking/biking/outdoors forums Shell was driving the whole length of it last summer to access their sites when the the bridge over the Elbow was out, and apparently Spray Lakes Sawmills was using it from the north all the way down to Canyon Creek for logging operations over the last couple months. I have also read reports from last summer that people have driven the whole thing on their bikes and say it is not really very damaged at all. It is apparently open right now as far as Canyon Creek heading south but will be permanently closed and blocked off at the end of January. Seems kind of fishy to me that the public is being told it's too damaged to use but industry has been using it with no problems since right after the flood last year. Does anyone actually know what's going on with this road? and whether it will be opened to the public again? Thanks for any insight.
  8. Wow, that is very buggy looking. Great tie.
  9. Just thought it would be easier (less babysitting) with the better heat retention on the eggs/kegs as compared to a standard charcoal bbq. One load of charcoal can last up to 24 hrs vs adding more charcoal every hour or so in a standard weber for long slow cooks. I was also thinking the better heat retention would be better for bbq'ing year round. I'm new to the charcoal scene so just trying to get as many opinions as possible before I make my decision.
  10. I actually stopped by BBQ Galore again today and was almost talked into leaving with a Big Steel Keg. It's the same size as the large BGE and comes with all the accessories that add another $500 or so to the BGE for roughly half the price. I'll have to read up on that one some more too.
  11. Smoked ribs, briskets, pulled pork, turkey breasts... I cant wait! I've been using smoke boxes/pouches on my propane grill with decent results but its kind of a pain, and even cooking indirectly with one burner on low it still gets too hot for real low and slow cooking plus the smoke pouches only last about 20-30 mins and they are a hassle to change out as they have to sit under the grates. Can't wait until I get something that can do it the right way and the BGE's are supposed to hold the heat extremely well so I can have real BBQ all winter long too.
  12. I've been thinking about getting a BGE for years and am finally getting ready to take the plunge. I've been debating on whether I should get the L or XL but the price difference has me leaning heavily towards the Large. Does anyone here have one? and if so any advice or tips to pass along before I make my final decision. Thanks in advance.
  13. I've never been but Florida is on my list. There is supposedly all kinds of easy access shore fishing in the salt and some neat freshwater opportunities for stuff like peacock bass. I don't know about shopping but there should be tons of cool bars/pubs and great Latin food too.
  14. 2nd for Cal Alta. Just had my Jeep windshield replaced there. Cheap, fast, and free chip/crack repairs for 2 months after if I remember correctly. Had to take advantage of that once already - friggin Jeeps!
  15. If its just recently expired and you have never fired one off before you should find a suitable place and give it a test. Most people are not aware of just how close you need to be for it to be effective. Just make sure no other people or animals are around and don't point it into the wind. As for disposal, you can drop it off for free at the hazardous waste stations at the entrance to any of the city dumps.
  16. The ultimate vest accessory for identifying what's hatching!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?client=mv-google&gl=CA&hl=en&v=6sp78DsIOwc&nomobile=1
  17. I live in Riverbend, I don't think any houses are going to flood here or Quarry Park although the condos by Carburn Park may come close. The river is just insane here though. The 3rd Carburn pond is completely gone and may even be the new river channel when it's all said and done. The power of the river is just incredible. Lots of damage all over the river valley around here, Beaverdam Flats, Carburn, and Southland will be affected quite a bit.
  18. Our oldest dog was a rescue that came from the Tsuu T'ina reserve and she has been great from day one (other than once eating an entire rubbermaid bin of all my hackle, but that was my fault for leaving it out :$*%&: ). Loves people - especially kids, has never messed in the house, never barks, and really loves anything to do in the outdoors. We also just picked up two puppies on the highway across from the casino on the Morley reserve last summer. We kept one and found some friends to take the other one. Both have also been great for each of our families, so my recomendation would also be to look at some of the local rescue groups. There are alot of great dogs out there that could really use use great homes and reserve rescues love the outdoors and make great hiking and fishing dogs. There are some nice medium sized ones here: http://www.rockymountainanimalrescue.com/adoption/calgary/medium.php
  19. It will be. TroutTV was taking up about half my PVR last season and when I finally went through it I had about 3-4 different recording of each episode.
  20. Don't forget to bring some Clear Cure Goo. I didnt make it to the Island last fall and need to replenish my stock.
  21. I think thats the guy that just cut me off on 18ST about 10 minutes ago. Friggin' friday evening commute...
  22. Tried Shazam before I posted here but it came up empty. I think it's just very similar to the Dodgeball theme so I'm pretty sure thats why I thought I recognized it.
  23. Awesome, thanks alot man! I should have asked here before spending too many hours to admit poking around youtube trying to figure out what it was! However now that I know what song it is, where is it from? I knew I had heard it before but since I've never heard of Von Burgund I'm assuming it was part of the soundtrack to a movie or something I've seen. Do you know which one?
