  1. How about Edwin today! 9 RBI's and a 15-1 win! Wow!
  2. I was looking at either the safe passage sling or the safe passage guide sling? Anyone have any experience with either? I'm fairly new to slings so any help would be great!
  3. Is it the super dri elite? I have that on my 5 wt and find it works great.
  4. Hopefully we can take the division lead tonight and not look back!
  5. Dorsal looked definitely more hybrid than true brookie. Interesting study.
  6. Wow that's pretty cool with no black. My fish was caught in BC and looked more like the second picture RedBeard had posted (black spots were definitely not as defined). I did catch other fish which looked definitely more like a brookie but then there were others where the spots were very faint. Will take more pics next time.
  7. Caught this very hungry fish which I believe is a brook trout (there was black on the dorsal fin). I was informed after however that it could be a brook trout/bull trout hybrid, seeing as there are no haloes around the spots. Was wondering if this is just a pale brookie or maybe a hybrid?
  8. Discovered a small crack in the ferrule in my Encounter 8 wt recently so looking to upgrade to a better 8 weight. The Orvis 25 year warranty doesn't cover the Encounter series unfortunately. Will take a look at the Impact for sure.
  9. All great tips. Thanks. Practice, practice, practice...
  10. Anyone have any tips in terms of casting and getting used to casting heavier weight lines (7 and 8 weight lines etc.) with faster rods? For me, it is a bit of a learning curve changing from a 4 or a 5 weight medium-fast rod to a faster 8 weight. I also find that sometimes my fly is hitting the rod tip on the forward cast as well (tailing loop I'm assuming). Any thoughts? Thanks!
  11. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  12. I'd say go with the 8'6. Love my 8"6, 4 wt Helios 2.
  13. Forgot to mention that there are also northern pikeminnows in the stretch between Invermere and Eagle Ranch Golf Course. Didn't know what they were at first but there are a lot of them as well.
  14. Have never explored this stretch fully but have fished it downstream of where it flows out from the spot between Invermere and Eagle Ranch Golf Course (Looking at google maps it looks like it is close to Wilmer). There is some good looking water and there are fish. Would be interesting to float the whole stretch in a canoe or kayak. There's also Toby Creek near Wilmer which apparently has fish in it. I haven't explored it a lot and haven't caught anything but its definitely another option.
  15. I have fished this area probably 5 times and have always done well catching a lot of fish. I've caught mostly smaller to medium size fish (char and kokanee - no bass for me yet) on dries, nymphs, and smaller streamers but there is the occasional larger one. Great place if you want to have some fun catching a lot of fish or want to teach someone to fly fish. You can also swim down there.
  16. Haha it's all good. I do have some idea of around there. Time to explore!
  17. Nice fish! If you don't mind me asking, where on the lake did you fish (general area)? I've only fished the north end and never caught any bass, just a LOT of small to average size fish which I believe were kokanee. They were fun on a 5wt but I'd like to try for bass too.
  18. Cool video! Must have been awesome to witness!
  19. Awesome i'm convinced. I think Wholesale sells them so I'll go pick one up as soon as I can!
  20. Thanks for the input. I need a 5 wt rod that will be pretty versatile and I think for the price point, it seems like a no-brainer to try it out. If you don't mind me asking, what reel and line do you have matched up with the rod? Does it need a line designed for faster action rods such as the SA GPX or would I be fine sticking with something like the Rio Gold?
  21. Looking at purchasing the 9 foot 5 weight Imperial and wanted to know if anyone had any first hand reviews with it. I'll definitely try and test cast it but wanted some prior insight on how it casts and also on how it fishes. Also, how is St. Croix's warranty? Thanks in advance!
