  1. Nice tie
  2. Hi there,

Hope you are well in all these trying times. Woud you be interested in a trade of some sort for that Superfine Rod? Just curious

    Keep well

    Lornce

  3. I would just do a few pools but concentrate on casting, stream side entomology, and where trout lie.
  4. My opinion is my opinion. I ask you to respect mine and the reason for it as I respect yours and your use of the resource. I do not attack you personalty, but wanted to point out that which one enjoys may have repercussions on others. 1961Flyman I would highly recommend that you readdress your rock throwing statement to Jayhad..
  5. Kind of funny, the first year I turned 65 and could fish without a license in this province, I had a bit of a panic attack. Ended up calling Fish and game, I guess my voice betrayed me and the patient young lady said really sir, you don't need to purchase a license in a very caring tone (more than likely not the only call she gets on the subject). That's what buying a license for 50 plus years does I guess. Met a CO out there streamside and I blurted out "I don't have a license" more from false guilt I guess. He chuckled and replied, didn't think you needed one. After chatting for a time about the mysterious ways of trout, a mutual love of the field and he shared a cup of coffee from my thurmos I felt more centered about it. Now on a pensioners budget I do appreciate the gift that is given us at 65.
  6. You do not need a WIN card after 65 or need to purchase a license for regular fishing. You will need a WIN card if you apply for any draws though. You are required thoug to carry Gov. ID establishing your age. Please refer to page 18 of the Alberta Fishing Regulations.
  7. I was fishing the Ghost when a jet come shooting by. Put down the riser I was stocking and blew the water out for feeding fish for about 2 and a half hours. Not to mention what it must do to the banks. In my opinion they do not belong in small waters. But I guess it was just a matter of time before it happens on a regular basis.
  8. Nothing said about cutting fences but access was the question. I am curious about crossing fences that run across creeks also. At times you would need to stretch the fence to cross. Wonder if it would be considered a barrier?
  9. Hay BowLurker, you mean one of these. This is one done in the classical tie. Still a great searching pattern for Trout.
  10. This one is called a For and Aft.Good little Cuttie fly, although I've caught a few Browns with it also as a searching pattern..
  11. Just playing around with a Dragon fly.
  12. Report A Poacher phone line Toll free: 1-800-642-3800 (24 hours a day 7 days a week) Report A Poacher online
  13. Good on you I nailed a few on the Bow, Have it on speed dial, I figure anyone I get helps protect what I love.
  14. I love tying Soft Hackles, gets you concentrated on the body more. Soft Hackle here is actually grey but a bit of yellow marker makes the color tick.
  15. Nice ties!
  16. Just curious, is the Superfine a Carbon or Fiberglass Fly rod.

  17. Hell I have a lot of vintage stuff. Helps when Mom, Pop and Gramps where all fishers and tiers.
  18. Late 50's early 60's Hardy Bougle Mk IV, only 100 Limited Edition made so they are rather rare. This one was never lined with box pouch and paperwork. I also have the matching Lee Wulff 6.5 ft Bamboo fly rod.
  19. The leather is in great shape really flexible, the strap needs a bit of work but not bad. I am looking into a good quality conditioner. The wicking/drying areas are felt, see below. Took a pix of the inside leader and accessory pockets also.
  20. Fantastic with a red Agate and box no less!
  21. fly boxes and holders have changed through the years. Here is Grandpas Fly wallet, these leather pouches where incredibly versatile with a big variety parchment of compartments for leader and fly storage. In the middle is a couple of pages of absorbent drying sheets for wet flies. Both outside pages have flapped pockets also.
  22. Over the years I have collected or been handed down vintage fly fishing items. Have a modest collection of reels and other items that I will post if people are interested. Here is a Hardy St John these early reels where hand made and often had the makers initials stamped inside. Some of these where tagged with the companies name. This one according to the data base was made by James Smith for James Niel and Son's in Nova Scotia.
