  1. Cane rods are a breed on their own. Contact Don Anderson here on the board if you need repair work done and a general check. Ferrules should be kept clean and free of corrosion inside (female) and out (male). If a ferrule feels too tight, chances are that it is a little dirty. I use a a little paraffin or soap as lubricant as this will also make the rod easier to take apart at the end of the day. I've fished split cane since I was a boy. PM me know if you have other questions.
  2. My wading staff has a great tape measure on the side. Very handy just float a decent fish next to the staff.
  3. Pflueger presidentS have been good to me over the years. As have Orvis and Battinkill. My favorite is my old Hardy Reels. Just picked up an AirfloAirflo Balance. I'll give a report when I get a chance to use it. There are actually a lotof fine reelson the market today.
  4. Doc's October Baetis Doc's Dodger Doc's BWO Doc's Troutruder Doc's Skidder Humm... is there a pattern here
  5. Beautiful shots thanks a lot for posting.
  6. Sorry to hear about it I feel for you as I got hit last year. Still haven't replaced the Bamboo fly rod.
  7. Same problem here with the Mustad 94840's. Had one realy bad on that a large trout actually flattened the barb against the shank. Turfed em all. I love Parridge barbless and the Signiture series. No problems since. I'ed rather spend a bit more money on a quality hook and not waste teh tying time.
  8. Yea I realy enjoyed the quick access, I live in the NE and it's a loop around for me, mid you I have a number of other spots....
  9. I often just park on the south side and then walk across Lake Sikome to the river. It's not that far.
  10. For a CDC Loop Wing Emerger I usually dub the thread with cdc or wrap it around then push the cdc into a "ball" and run the thread arround the base of the ball. You can pm me if this doesn't make sense.
  11. I've used the Sharp's wading staff for over a year now here on the bow, on small streams and on the big rivers on the coast. Seldom has a product become not only a part of my valued equipment but sorely missed the only time it was forgotten at home. I count this product key for my own safety like an extention of my arm. Thanks again Speyghillie!
  12. For interest sake. http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/2007/11/14/a_qray_timeline/ http://skepdic.com/qray.html http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelate...nyAds/qray.html
  13. Is Troutfitters carrying Eumer tube materials? Ball tubes etc.
  14. Seagaur is really nice line really limp. I obtained a spool a couple of years ago in BC. Used it up but never found the brand again. If anyone brings some in let me know. Frog Hair is also a great choice.
  15. Mine various rods and reels for a dip quite regularly. but again like others I have a regular maintenance program for my equipment. Humm maybe I should write an article.
  16. Very nice, lots of green popping up. A pretty wee brown.
  17. My fishing fav spots on the Bow are a few city runs, a couple close to Banff and a few runs south of town. Fish Creek only when I feel social.
  18. I use two Nore-vice auto bobbins. Don't think you could take full advantage of this vice with out an auto bobbin. I use my standard bobbins for materials like wire, tinsel, silk, and other odd materials. I also use a standard bobbin for tying show Salmon flies where I need slow careful thread control (old time habit). Will order an EKICH one of these days. Looks like a great bobbin.
  19. will be unable to participate due to tying commitments that I need to catch up on.
  20. If you can nymph you can also just high stick with no indicator.
  21. I like pedestal, Just plop it down and tie.
  22. You should try swinging hair wings some time low profile flies like that sink really quick. Intruders are bulky and sink slow.
  23. kevlar thread here also.
  24. I'll most likely be talking to Monty tonight and will pass it on.
  25. Curious what you are using to tie tubes. I was using the HM for years but switched to the tube accessory for my Nore-vice and really love it.
