Big thanks for the financial support from our newest StreamWatch Corporate sponsor, IckyFlyWorks. Thanks guys!

Hi folks, hope everyone is having a great weekend on the water. I'm asking that you make a little time today, to look over the items we have up for auction and show your support for the conservation of our wild trout fishery. Also, if you have any items to donate, just drop me a pm. You can also make your donation directly too SouthWest StreamWatch. The fishies thank you!
-
I don't know of any plans to shoot film this time through town. Ed will be able to answer any of your questions about his upcoming dvd, when he gets too Calgary in a couple of weeks time.
-
New items added today.
-
We will wait to see how the weather shapes up on the weekend of the 16/17th, to decide the best date/time. We're thinking probably Sunday the 17th, if the weather co-operates.
-
Thanks guys. If anyone would like to donate any items/services to the auction, please send me a pm with the details. Your support is greatly appreciated and needed... The fishies thank you!

Thanks BigBowTrout, Rick... Folks, we are still looking for items to add to the Auction list, so if you can contribute, please send me a pm. Here is a link too Clive's 2008 StreamWatch Report. Welcome fellow anglers... In 2008, Alberta Stream Watch was expanded to include a Stream Watch Officer in the foothils of S.W. Alberta. (for those of you unfamiliar with Stream Watch please visit: http://www.oldmantu.ca/streamwatch.html Many of you who fished the Oldman/Livingstone area last summer, may have had a chance to meet our Stream Watch Conservation Officer, Jeff Cox, who initiated numerous angler interactions and made a significant impact on awareness of stewardship and angling regulations in the area. You may have also noted the new signage in the area. It's now time again to start our donations drive for Stream Watch 2009. Costs have gone up and we will need to raise roughly $40,000 for each Stream Watch Officer on patrol in 2009. Stream Watch relies on donations from corporations and individuals to fund it's efforts. As many of you know, a good part of the success in our fundraising last year, was the result of the FFC Online Auction, thanks to the generosity of donors and bidders alike. Again for 2009, Greg (Toolman), has agreed to co-ordinate the Auction, collecting donations and compiling bids. Our objective this year is to SURPASS last year's total of almost $10,000!! I know Stream Watch can count on your continuing support through the Auction and if possible, please consider supporting Stream Watch through an individual or corporate donation. Also, if you know of potential corporate or individual donors that we should contact, please let me know and I'll make sure that happens. Thank you, Al Caldwell Auction Guidelines: You can post your bids on this thread or make a silent bid by sending me a pm. When bids for any of the items listed have reached a resonable offer (met or exceeded market value) and/or, have been posted for a period of time with no new bids forthcoming, we will announce a Closing Notice with a Closing date/time for the item. All payments for items are expected to be honored within 10 days of the items closing date. Payment details, including acceptable methods of payments, mailing address and contact information, are explained at the bottom of this page. Your support is greatly appreciated and thanks to all who have already donated generously. Legal Advice/opinions?
toolman replied to birchy's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Here's my perspective, Birchy...Take the hit and walk away. Life's too short and there's no pot of gold at the end of that rainbow. It sucks, but it could be worse. Go fishin'...be happy! -
Otters are cool... There's little to be concerned about. As an old trapper myself back in the day, caution is advised around Otters, they can be pretty rough customers. Female Otters are weaning pups at this time of the season and can be very aggressive and territorial. I've been run off the beaver pond before.

Birchy, you can probably order these books directly from the Mclennan Flyfishing site. http://mclennanflyfishing.com/mclennanbooks.htm

Ed Ward will be coming too Calgary, in May and has agreed to give up a few hours of his time for a Skagit Casting presentation. It will most likely be held on either Saturday, May 16th or Sunday, May 17th. (T.B.A.) Ed is a legendary Skagit casting pioneer, Skagit casting instructor, Speyfishing Guide in the US Pacific NW and Head Guide at the Alaska West Fishing Lodge, on the famous Kanektok river. He is also one of the featured casting instructors on Rio's latest spey casting dvd, Rio's Modern Speycasting. This is a free presentation and all are invited to attend. Stay tuned for time/place and details. Cheers, Greg http://blog.deneki.com/2009/01/ed-wards-king-rig.html

That's awesome. Thank you.

I guess I should get this rolling. I'll get something up on the weekend. Now we need folks to help by donating items/services to auction off. Please send me a pm if you have anything to contribute to the StreamWatch auction. Our goal is to surpass last years total of $10,000, so dig deep and give with your heart. Cheers, Greg

I've done lots of nymphing without indicators, often in the dark. High sticking at night will really force you into paying attention to your other senses.

Have a great one, Brett. We'll see ya soon. -
Congrats on your first fly caught Bull, Terrance.
-
Nice looking broonie, Andy. Thanks for the pic.
-
You might be throwing Tailing loops...wait for your line to straighten out completely on the backcast before making the forward cast. Could be a combination of casting faults and the leader/fly arrangement as well. Here's a link to a great site about casting... http://www.sexyloops.com/flycasting/contents.shtml

What a little baby...ooohhh it's too cold too fish today, oohhh it's too windy to fish today...ooohhh it's too sunny to fish today. ...Tungsten stole my avatar...Quit yer whinin' and man up Birchy. It's pretty obvious you're a Caper'. (Cape Breton) Isn't that where the leper colony was set up when your ancestors arrived...?
