  1. I've had two Olympus tough cameras, they are great. Waterproof and small childproof.
  2. How is this launch? It is safe to use? I'm considering doing a float from Fish Creek to Policeman's with my family this weekend. It seems as though the water level has gone down significantly since the beginning of June. Thanks for the help.
  3. Sparkplug I don't think anyone is under the impression we can produce cheaper oil than the ME. Isn't the point to sell more crude? The profit margins are what they are but may as well increase the volume to increase the revenue.
  4. Thanks for the pointers. Hopefully this next trip is more successful than the last!
  5. My wife and I just found out the hard way what it's like to camp with a 6 month old! Next time we're going to rent a camper trailer to make it easier. Do you have any suggestions on provincial (or national) campgrounds within 3 hours of Calgary? My wife really wants to go somewhere that would allow for swimming. I wouldn't mind taking cast or two if time permits. We are looking at Dinosaur Provincial Park, I was also looking at Dutch Creek. Any other places we should look at? Thanks!
  6. http://www.mcmaster.com/#hdpe/=12hxxzg I order from these guys a lot. Generally very fast delivery.
  7. This project is nearly complete, just pending a final city inspection. After inspection the roof will be insulated and dry walled and railings for the roof top deck will go up. I went with a general contractor because I'm not experienced in home building (I'm a manufacturing guy). The garage is also submerged on a sloped lot, so concrete walls as high as 8 ft were required, way beyond what I am comfortable taking responsibility for. For the roof, we did wood trusses with the roof spaced slightly off them (2x4's going the opposite direction on top of the trusses and plywood on top of that). I put in several vents to ensure that any moisture can evaporate easily.
  8. I have General Grabbers A/T2's (stud-able) on my Canyon that I leave on year round and they are great in the snow and decent on ice. I got them 25% off at CT. Our Subaru has Blizzaks in the winter and they are great.
  9. tl - Is the idea that you totally seal off the roof/trusses from moisture with closed cell spray foam? I'm pretty sure the first guy I spoke to about this suggested the same. What about steel trusses?
  10. Tungsten - A more lengthy scan of the bylaws shows that they are but you need to apply for a Development Permit, see the first paragraph. Also, most of my current neighbors have a deck on their garage. http://www.calgary.ca/PDA/pd/Documents/brochures/detached_residential_garage.pdf 126 - I'll need retaining walls close to 8ft tall for this project.
  11. Sounds good, thanks for the advice.
  12. Hmm maybe, I'll need a structural engineer apparently for the wall/foundation and roof. The city permitting might be an issue which makes me want to go with a general contractor, is that a mistake? I expect this project will cost around $40k.
  13. Hi guys. Does anyone have suggestions or recommendations on who to contact to build a garage with a flat roof / deck? A retaining wall will need to be built as the property has a slope. Thanks sraak
  14. Maybe a big bicycle U-Lock through the trailer wheel? I've seen it before and it would act like a boot. I'd keep the oars inside if you can.
  15. Don - I have a stainless frame on my Bucks Pontoon, after three seasons it looks good. It is a two person pontoon though so the frame has quite a few cross members. I wonder if it's a fatigue issue in addition to corrosion, my understanding is that stainless generally has a better fatigue characteristics than carbon steel.
