I found out how: there are 2 ways: one is by steaming and the other is by knicking the hair on the back side of the curve and bending backwards. It's the knicking one I know I had seen but forgotten.
One of several reasons why I started this .......to get some to try something different......never know you might find something useable on you standard tying to make it more effective
Glad in a sorry way to see it's not just me that has noticed this. I have been using turkey of late but I'm not getting the end result I want, turkey biots are too translucent for what I have been tying of late.
If it's cork you really want does it have to be rod handles, you could try corks from wine bottles, not as big I know but you could use a perspective kind of arrangement to pull it off.
I 've thrown out alot that has been nuked and I would never recommend it to anyone........if its fresh best thing I have found was flesh, wash , salt and then wash again...never failed yet this way......drying wings is a knack in itself that I let me brother do as he is good at it
The combination of freeze nuke isn't effective either. The most effective way of getting rid of most potential or actual pests is by washing your materials in warm soapy water, and rinsing very thoroughly.. This will also improve many materials with regard to their appearance, and handling qualities.
Have any of you been getting any decent goose biots? A couple of weeks back I was looking for some and in one shop I looked at everyone they had and found the quality inferior and I would never use them so they stayed at that shop. The same thing at a second shop. The biots I looked at were like they were burnt or had some reaction to the dyeing process as in the middle of the strip large numbers of biots were missing a good part of their make up.
Anyone else been getting stuff like this?
Pattern # 3
Hook : Daiichi # 2441 size 2/0
Thread : Hot Pink
Tag: Flat Silver Tinsel
Tail: Charteuse Bucktail
Butt: 5 strands of peacock herl twisted into a rope
Toolman I know you don't tie but you should be able to add a component so please do
I changed the order of the tail and tag so it would be in the proper tying order for those that have never tried steelie flies before
You can treat piees of fresh hide with pickling salt as well but scrap as much of the fat off the hide as possible to help the curing process.
As for hair from various parts of the animal this link should help

It's not the way i was looking for or seen before. I've sent off an email to a friend of mine in mainland Europe for his input and still waiting to hear back.
I have used one and it works ok but it doesn't do anything that I can't do on my Nor. I find it to be a pretty pricey piece of plastic. If your into gadgets I would say this might be one of the more useful ones depending on what you want to do with it.
