  1. I have regular style ruby insert and a titanium insert bobbins that have been good so far but I only have been using them for floss for the most part. Has anyone else tried these types? ?The ones I have are the Dr Slick ones.
  2. AC what type of Danville do you like?
  3. I can say that the fly that flyangler refers to is very unique, almost novelity if you will. I must say I have never seen anything quite like it but I'm sure it will take a fish or two.
  4. I use both but prefer stainless because of the fact it gerates less heat and disipates much better than ceramic, which is important to the system of tying I use. A word of interest here about stainless bobbin: they are not created equally. Different grades of stainless are used in their making. The ones I used are not flared at the end like most but are straight and radiused and highly polished. Tey are also thick walled which allows this radius and polishing to be applied.
  5. Curious as to what you tyers prefer and why. Let's hear your thoughts on this subject.
  6. I think he means nothing......just look at the context it was used.
  7. Now that one looks the business ; either one would be good.
  8. It seems not many fish the trude styles much.....such a shame as at times they are far better than anything else you could tie on.
  9. Your tying poor? I think not Jeff
  10. AC would say this fly has some dabbler inspiration in it? It kind of has a dabbler look to it that I like. Good job my friend.
  11. This question has crossed my mind many times and Brian's post about naming new patterns brings the question up again. In my opinion a truly new pattern is a rare occurance. It's been my finding that most "new" patterns are just variations of already existing patterns that some one has renamed. I'm curious as to what everyone else's view on this subject is.
  12. If you look around you'll find that the same pattern has different names in different areas. Name it what you want , chances are that same fly has a different name elsewhere.
  13. Another option if you can't fold it is to strip off one side.
  14. Absolutely
  15. Actually I never got a chance to fish at all while out there but a few friends tried out the stuff I was toying with in the evenings. I had tight deadlines to meet so no fishing but it will be different next year, I'll have time then I hope.
  16. A stinger is our term for a trailer hook........Fireline is a fishing line made by Berkley......very strong for it's diameter.
  17. Very good point ...... Perhaps getting more is not such a bad idea even if one has to dye themselves to get the required colour. Polor aire is a decent sub for it but it still doesn't have the translucence of the real thing.
  18. It's getting pricey and I have it dyed in colours that are not readily available at most places.
  19. Try here: http://www.fishingsaskatchewan.ca/forum/
  20. IE is terrible especially version 7. Not a real big MS fan anyway. Another option for IE is Opera its not to bad
  21. This one pictured here is a size 4 but I also have a few up to 2/0 in this pattern
  22. I'm sure it would too......just would have to try and find out.
  23. Let me know how you do with it........I know it worked in the Rennie River area
  24. Thanks guys.....I really like tying this style. I have got ideas for some different variations to this style as well.
