  1. If you are thinking Fish creek park I am assuming the west side although there is good fishing to be had on each side.

If you come in on the west side though I personally like to walk south as there are a few good spots that way.

As it is your first time out this could also be nice if you are right handed. The reason I say this is you can cast parallel to the bank which will give you lots of room behind without fear of snagging. Although any spot with lots of open room behind you will be fine for casting practice and there are plenty of open areas.

Just remember to be patient and make sure to watch your line especially if you are going with 2 flies. On your backcast make sure to give it lots of time for the line to straighten out or else you will spend all day untying your flies. Another thing, keep an eye on your line while casting, if you do tangle on yourself and catch it early then you can usually fix it quickly, if you don't notice it and you have a big mess of stuff you are just best to cut it and setup your rig again. I like to take a zip loc bag with me to hold the line when I do that as I try to keep the river clean.

Also if you find you are having some issues with 2 flies I personally found just casting one fly to be easier and a little more forgiving so don't be afraid to give that a shot if your patience is wearing thin.

Also I did notice some fish rising last weekend so keep your eyes open. I am not sure I would recommend switching to a dry fly at this point as they were rising pretty randomly but it would be a good indication of where fish are at least.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Amen to that, next thing you know it is a chinook day in January and you are on the water with electric socks and taking ice off your rod guides.

Just remember even if you don't get one the first few times out enjoy the experience. Lots to enjoy even without catching a fish although it does make the day a little better usually.

  3. It is amazing how BBT and I both got into fly fishing for similar reasons.

One question BBT Camelot is on mars? Other than that I see no flaws opinion or scientific about your story.

The Camelot bit is really hanging me up though, forcing me to explore the option that your story all be it amazing may not be 100% accurate.... Is this possible?

  4. If you get hockey laces just don't get Flames branded laces. I hear they fall apart really quick on the road. :)

    *sigh* lol

Ha-ha so true, better than my Oilers. They just fall apart, another tough year for being a hockey fan in Alberta. At least my backup playoff team (the penguins) are looking sharp.

Thanks Cheeler I will stop by and do that for sure.

I was debating about hockey laces but I thought there might be something a little better out there.

  5. Hello everyone when I was out last weekend I managed to snap one of the laces on my Caddis Northern Guide Lightweight boots. The boots are only a year old so they are still in great shape so I am looking to pick up some replacement laces.

I looked around the web and I was unable to find any specific replacement laces for the boots which is fine considering that they broke in a year the first time.

I do have a few ideas for laces but I was wondering if anyone else had any good or bad experiences on replacement laces for these boots or just boots in general?

Here are the boots in case it helps: http://www.caddiswaders.com/products.php?category=shoes&product=66

    Thank you,

    Russ

  6. My first entry level rod was a Reddington although I forgot the actual model. It was a 6 wt two piece and very great to get started.

I am still using 6 wt rio gold wf line but on a different rod and reel setup. If you are just new to fishing I think you have a entry level rig to get out there and catch some fish and enjoy nature.
