  1. Just curious: how many posts before you're a cluster***k?
  2. Columbia Country's not entirely awful; they even come north o' the border to fish in Alberta & B.C. I do get kinda mesmerized by producer Bob Asbury's hand gestures when he talks- it's like a car wreck-ya don't wanna look, but you can't stop yourself! They should really just film him from the chest up so we can't see his hands.
  3. The best single shot I've ever seen on a fishing show was a shot of Mark Krupa playing a 20lb+ Atlantic salmon; the cameraman was shooting over Mark's shoulder as this huge salmon erupted from the water, twisting & turning head to tail in midair trying to throw the hook. I don't know how many times I rewound and watched those few seconds, absolutely in awe -not just of the fish, but of the way that shot was captured. Phenomenal! Hope he's off filming more episodes right now.
  4. We can also bring an auger, I guess. One of the maintenance guys told me this story about last winter at Spruce Meadows:they had cleared off a skating rink on the pond, only to come in one morning to find a hole augered smack-dab in the middle of it. I reckon the guy didn't want the hassle of clearing snow away from his hole! Probably the same guy who was duck hunting in Inglewood bird sanctuary a few years ago. What part of Newfoundland do you think he's from? LOL
  5. Never mind the centered pupils- look at the overall expression on that poor trout's face! "The horror...the horror!" I see much counselling in his future, or else possibly "suicide by bulltrout". Shame on you, dryfly! The right thing for you to do now is NEVER fish that area again, and let me know the exact location, so I can go check on that fish and any others you may have traumatized. BTW, awesome pic!
  6. Sweet! I've personally whiled away a lot of time watching fish feed; sometimes prior to starting to fish for 'em, sometimes after trying every fly in my box with no takers- then you can either get frustrated, or just sit back & enjoy the show.Love the topwater feeding, but it's also pretty cool watching a trout feed near the bottom. Amazing how little energy they seem to expend to feed.
  7. C'mon, now, Max! Are you trying to tell us you release EVERY bull trout you catch? Middle of nowhere, fresh bull trout over an open fire- what could be better?
  8. Yowzers! Dave, you been doin' too much chuckin', not enuf duckin'! Tell me you were just playin' along, tryin' to sucker some other saps into biting on this VERY OBVIOUS yank job. 'Cuz I KNOW that's what you were doin'; right? Right? Answers, man, answers! __Bob Loblaw__
  9. Geez, lethfisher, these guys have had no good advice for you at all! I apologize for their lack of insight. Now, pay attention while Bob Loblaw solves your problem. You have 105' of line but can only cast 75', and would like to cast it all, correct? Here's whatcha do: pull out all your line, cut off the last 35', & re-attach to backing. Now reel all line back onto your reel & commence casting; if all goes according to plan, you'll be able to cast all your flyline + 5' of backing. Lots of "oohs" & "ahs" from the gathered crowd, & you're a hero for the day! You're so welcome! No really, don't mention it! __Bob Loblaw, Solver of Dilemmas, Quandaries, & Enigmas__ (Now on FFC to better serve YOU)
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, Birchy, but "a brown trout that fits in the palm of YOUR hand" would be about 18",yes? HYUK-HYUK-HYUK! Keep it real, Birchman! __Bob Loblaw__
  11. Don't worry, SJW, I've found a solution to your problem. I'm working on a design for a smoke-holder that you wear around your neck, sorta like what musicians use to hold their harmonicas; that way your hands are free to hold your flyrod & your triple/triple. So, you don't have to quit smoking after all! You're welcome. __Bob Loblaw__
  12. Yurts and yak's milk and taimen, oh my! A scaley behemoth, caught on a fly! Fantastic throat-singing, ain't that the truth; The secret, I think, is that one upper tooth! That's one fishin' hole that I may never reach, But, at least I've seen the video;thanx, esleech! __Bob Loblaw__
  13. Chris,if y'all are having your exposition at Spruce Meadows, you should have it during spring/summer; that way, we could test drive all the new gear in the trout pond. Poor fishies wouldn't stand a chance! LOL!
  14. A 20 lb pike in your pants? Sounds a little dangerous; a nice sucker would be safer! BTW, I believe that's singer/actor Tom Waits with the fishpants.
  15. "BC around Kelowna"? Methinks the administrators need to enable the "B.S. Check" feature on this board! On second thought, that would really kill a lot of good fish stories-so, forget it! Seriously, DBT, beat some sense into Kale- can't be missin' good bully porn. Keep it real! Bob Loblaw
  16. Hey, wongrs! Nice brown, & some awesome pics in your album. Some real trouty looking water, and spectacular rock formations. Wow!
  17. Is nice-verrry nice!
  18. Hey, Steven! Sent you a PM concerning your post; not too tech-savvy,hope I did it right-let me know if you got it. Thanx! Bob Loblaw (AKA Steve M)
  19. Wow,Lynn! Yet another new addition to the family;not half as cute as the last,I bet! Congrats on both counts- enjoy.
  20. cdock,I'm really starting to think you may be the one feeding the Birchman all the groaners! C'mon, now, 'fess up!
  21. Hey, rickr, I think people put a little too much emphasis on where they happened to be born. I grew up in a place that didn't get hurricanes, but it was often a tad damp, and my hat kept blowin' off! So, I left Newfoundland and immigrated to Canada when I was 17. (LOL) And since this thread is supposed to be about Birchy, I'll say this : "Keep on keepin' on, Birchy! Some day when I'm not so dang busy, we gonna go to MY CREEK (SHHH!) and have a 200 fish day!Keep it real!"
  22. Oh, I don't think he "forgot", Glenbow;he's trying to use his Cyborgian mind control to make US forget! Resistance is futile... mustn't look directly at the blue sweater...getting weaker...uuyefytresioi dhjyui juu...Whaaa? Wow! That was weird! Kinda went away for a minute there...what was I talking about? Can't remember. Oh, well. Whatever. Later.
  23. Ah, yes, Austria! G'day, mate. Put another shrimp on the barbie! (Just kidding!) Great pics, DDF!
  24. Just coincidence that you made your 1st post in a thread that says you have to post at least once to be elegible to win a prize?LOL You'll probably be the lucky sonuvabitchcreeknymph who wins it! Good luck! If you do win, I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding someone on this forum who'll take you out to christen that new rod & reel. Might have to settle for one of the guys, tho'.
  25. American trout are way too sophisticated for the THNT; you hold a $10 Starbucks cranberry-smoked salmon frappuccino or you get skunked, and laffed at!
