Thanks Brian, I know the penalties are pretty severe and I'd rather not get a ticket for something that can be avoided.
I tried the link you sent me but it won't open. Says server error file could not be found. I'll try again later.
Thanks again Brian

What does everyone know about the boat inspections? Does it have to be inspected before every trip or launch? Can I be pro active and take it someplace in town before I have a trip or do I just wait until I go through a stop check on the highway? Is there a charge for the inspection? Are pontoon boats part of the "boats" that need to be inspected? For that matter, what about all those $20.00 plastic rafts that float our rivers?

I sure like honest people!

I use Dave's flexament. Coat the underside of the feather.

Good looking stream Peter.

Nobody has mentioned lake Newell about 10 or 15 KM south of Brooks. Good fishing for pike and walleye and swimming as well.

Man, look at that smile. I love it.

And yet, Albertans are still flocking to BC to fish and spend wads of cash. I have decided not to fish in BC. Don't know how long but certainly for the foreseeable future anyway.

Great idea Lornce. My waist pack doesn't have one, think I'll make one up.

It was an exciting day all the way around. You should have seen the smiles and excitement on the 30 plus school kids. They learned a ton of environmental information. What constitutes a healthy environment for the fish, what other kinds of critters benefit from our waterways etc. We talked about why you don't just throw your apple core in the grass and why you should pick up the little bits of trash lying around.
It's a great program and gets the kids very enthused. The school they go to is an inner city elementary school with a wide range of kids from all different backgrounds. I was surprised at how many had never even seen a fish in its natural environment.
I asked the lady from Fish and Wildlife how many Calgary area schools were involved in this, I think she said that 16 was the number.
If any of the people from FFC are members of their school's Parent Council, I would encourage you to look into this program for your own schools.

Yesterday, I was asked by my Daughter to come with their school group to release rainbow fingerlings that they had raised from eggs. Two of my Granddaughters were with the school and the third is not in school yet but came with us. My daughter was co ordinating between the Bow Habitat Station (who provided the eggs) and the school.
The fish release went well with about 30 very enthusiastic school kids but what really made my day was the fact that I got to watch the faces of all three of my Grand Daughters catch their first fish! The youngest one was first and after she reeled it in, she wasn't interested any more. The middle one was super excited and caught a total of 10 trout in that 12 to 14 inch range. The oldest also caught one but had to go back with her group to discover" pond life". She would have stayed with me longer otherwise.
I have wanted to introduce all three to fishing for a very long time. I'm pretty sure at least one of them will fish at any opportunity presented.
All in all, it was my best day of fishing ever. And I never caught a fish!

This evening,I stopped in at the Canadian Tire store on McLeod Trail and Southland Drive with the sole purpose of picking up a copy of the new fishing regulations. When I asked at the Sporting Goods desk, I was told that they would not give me a copy if I had not bought my new licence there. After a conversation with the manager I explained that because I was over 65 years of age that I was not required to buy a licence. I did end up with a copy but it took quite a conversation in order for them to hand me it.
My question is, has anyone else had a hard time getting the regulations this year? How common is this? Is it even legal to deny somebody the fishing regulations? What are your thoughts?

Mike, empty your in box, I just tried to send you a message but it says you can't receive any at this time.

Smitty, count me in for 50.00. Send me a note with an address that I can get the money to you.
Good on you for doing this Mike those people really do need our help.
On another note to all of the sceptics out there, I have known Mike for several years through the forum. I have the utmost respect for him and would not question his ethics. He is truly one of the GOOD GUYS.

Like the others have said, DO NOT USE A FLOAT TUBE on the river. I've had a pontoon for more than 10 years. Love it. Buying a used pontoon is not a problem for me. Just check it over good. If it leaks, find another one. Mine breaks down small enough that I can pack it in a small car. My view on fishing out of the pontoon is that it allows you to fish areas that you normally wouldn't be able to. After a little practice, you can get some very long drag free drifts in. It does get complicated when you latch on to a big fish and he wants to go north while the river is taking you south. I use fins and try to head to shore but I've lost lots of big ones while trying this too.

High River might be another option.

There are some real nice pictures there Buck. I liked the church, the archery, and the misty one with the dog and the guy on the water. They were all nice though.

Mike, contact vitalkieth on the forum. He won one in the silent auction at the FF EXPO in January. He had listed it for sale because it was the wrong size.
