  3. Wholesale Sports could not compete with the big box American stores - Bass Pro and Cabelas. It's too bad that big corporate American stores keep killing our smaller Canadian enterprises. Now that Wholesale is gone it is most important we support our local Canadian stores so they don't disappear.
  4. What are the most popular fly fishing flies? Everyone has their favourite selection of flies they use the most. Check out our new story on the flyfishingexplorer.com website that reveals lists of favourite flies from myself, Vic Bergman and Barry Mitchell. You can also access our fly fishing hatch and suggested fly patterns chart. Our link is below: flyfishingexplorer.com/teaching/the-most-popular-fly-fishing-flies-3 It would be interesting if everyone could post there list of favourite flies as a reply to this thread. Thanks. 6. Hello everyone, I have a new post on my website: flyfishingexplorer.com. This new photo essay is about having some fun hiking and dry fly fishing for aggressive Brook Trout on Cataract Creek while enjoying the amazing eastern slopes of the Rockies Mountains! It is so much fun trying to catch these smaller Brookies especially when the farther you hike from the road the more aggressive & unsuspecting fish you find. You know you've had a great day when you lose track of how many fish you actually caught on the dry fly, Check out my other photo essays from the Oldman, Livingstone, Elbow and Highwood Rivers. Also you can watch my interview videos with legendary Jack Dennis and Jim McLellan as they discuss their fly fishing topics. January Tip: Now is the time to check you fishing equipment and see what you will require for the upcoming season. Your local fly shops will appreciate a visit this time of year and they have great deals where you can save big and show your support. Tight lines, Nickolas T. flyfishingexplorer.com

  11. Alberta Environment & Parks has a press release on the mywildalberta.com website stating that all previously closed waterbodies have been reopened effective Aug 21, 2015. Looks like their press release department is keeping this a low profile. Here is the press release website: http://mywildalberta.com/fishing/closures.aspx I hope water temperatures and levels have returned to almost normal. Tight lines, Nickolas
  12. Hard to believe people don't realize the damage that is and can be done when you drive vehicles through creeks and rivers. Nothing upsets fisherman more than damage to our precious streams.
  13. You can also view the video on YouTube.ca by it's name which is: 2015 Top Fly Fishing Products Simply type this name into the search box on YouTube.ca webpage.
  14. Looks like the link to YouTube does not work directly from the Flyfishcalgary site. Does anyone know how to create a direct link to Youtube from the Flyfishcalgary site? Thanks in advance.
  15. Yes the Patagonia display of new products was at the Fly fishing Expo at Spruce Meadows that was held on January 23 to 25, 2015. It is called the Western Canadian Fly Fishing Exposition and held every year in Calgary. Many companies displayed their latest products at the Expo that included their newest fly rod designs, drift boats, waders & boots, clothing & vests, fly fishing accessories, trip destinations and guiding services. There were also several seminars held by notable fly fisherman on fly tying, casting and other fly fishing techniques. It is definitely a great show and a must attend for the dedicated fly fisherman who is interested in what is new in the sport for 2015.
