  1. I have been through a lot and what works for one may not for others. The (prolo) will not work for me based on info from my doctor and chiropractor (friend). Getting close to 4 years as the surgeons will advise to try everything prior to the knife. I understand this.

The research I have read shows a good percentage recover from the physio, chiro, etc. hence, doctors don't push the surgery. However, the surgery sucess rate seems to be 90!!!!! Looking forward to this thursday with my surgeon as it is an important day in my life. Please take out my herniated disc!!!!!!!!!

  2. Fought it for yrs. Non-surgically, improving your core strength will help the most but in my case I finally had to get a ruptured disc removed. Been pretty good since.

    4 years this august............................herniated disc..........L4L5.

Did physio, chiro, decompression, bought inversion table nothing worked to get rid of sciatica and low back pain.

I see a surgeon on thursday and am pleading for the surgery to remove the disc as I know what you go through and it is not fun!!!!!!

Just recently turned 40 and teach Phys.ed (yikes)........................need some closure on this soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Went to the RV show to try and find a camper for my truck. Boy was I disapointed with the selection.

Yes they did have campers there, they were awesome!!!!! bathrooms, full kitchens, queen size beds, full size fridges, microwaves and numerous other ridiculous extras.

The only problem is that I do not own a 1 ton Ford truck with dual rear wheels! I have a Tundra with a 1100 lb standard load rating.

So I enquired with the RV dealers about pop-up campers. I go fishing/camping by myself or with a buddy, and a place off the ground to sleep, a stove, and a heater is all I really need>

Well let me tell you, the people at all the Calgary RV dealerships did not have a clue as to where to get popup campers. It was like I was talking in some strange Somalian dialect to these turkeys.

If any body has any info in regards to Pop up campers, it would be much appreciated, Thanx

P.S. before i get any smart alec remarks about owning a TUNDRA.................. Just remember: If you can't afFORD a Tundra, then DODGE the issue!!!

    Hey Triploid

I saw a lot of pop ups at the show.......................also saw the prices for RV's in Canada and wow!!!!!! Bought after Christmas in the States with the par dollar.

Anyhow, I went through a lot of what you are going through ( payload) when looking for my fifthwheel. I also own a half ton although the term half ton really is obsolete.

I have a 2010 F150 with the 7700 gvwr and 1800 payload, max tow etc. and looked at well over 20 fivers claiming half ton towable...................bull@#$%^&

Finally found one with a 1090 pin weight, bunks for kids and 7050 pounds, with propane, battery etc. I am still close on 2 of my limits.

I guess what I am saying is there turned out to be an option..........but with the camper in box you want I am not sure.

Once again, our trucks rate to pull 11000 - 10000 but would max out tounge/pin/ axle long before that!!!!! again bull!@#$%^

    Good luck.

lots of good pop ups to be found used with furnace, 3 way fridge etc. I had one 3 years ago I paid 4 grand and sold for 3200. Great rig.

  4. Thanks fellas. Been doing a lot of reading tonight!

I can't get the RV I am looking at locally as it is an eastern model so really can't push that on a salesguy here. Almost 8 grand difference........................wow. Golfman, did you bargain with the sales guy in the states? I assume there is not much wiggle room with them knowing the Canadian is already saving a good chunck of change.

  5. Looking into this and curious as to others opinions or experiences.

The RV I found is considerably less including the GST , other fees, currency exchange, and 2500 bucks to have it delivered to Montana border. I realize there are a few other considerations with warranty being the big concern.

It seems the manufacturer ( Forest River) has warranty all accross NA but local dealers can be picky if you buy elsewhere.

    Anybody?

    Thanks

    Rob

Feel free to PM if you rather.

  6. Hi there, recently bought a truck and 22 foot komfort trailer.. been driving around the neighbor hood practising driving...think in early july going to be ready to go camping....problem is little scared..need tofind a campsite in the crownest pass with lots of room for me to park this thing and a campsite(not lost lemon) that take trailers.. have been to allison creek.. tent only not sure if they take trailers.also have camp at beaver mines like them both.. but how is trailer access to both.....and are there any other good site close to lakes or river with good access for trailers....jon

I use Hiawatha up off 507 only a few k from the river. Some sites are easy to park and others not so much. Washrooms, power, water and a playground for my 2 rascals. Hope you enjoy the new trailer. I bought a new Max Lite 23 foot rear slide last year and only got a few nights in so I plan to be gone a lot this summer.

  7. We used to use artificial turf from Home Depot...cost us $50 for the whole season...that bought us enough for the whole length of the trailer and the width of the awning....and it stayed down until end of season when we rolled it up and threw it out. For you...probably $30 or so for your trailer.

I used the same in lawn greeen. Rona about 30 bucks for 14 by6????

  8. I try all beer and enjoy most. I always revert back to my favorite.........................Alexander Keith's..............................must be the Maritimer in me. Bloom can attest to my love of Vitamin K!!!! Actually, will enjoy a few tonight watching the Habs as there is a good chance it is their last game!!!!!!!!

Will try to get down for a taste some other time. Thanks for the offer.

Thanks God I exercise as I do like beer!!!!!

  9. So much of this is perspective. I had a trip last winter on the Crow, where we arrived at Burmis and decided to head upstream (where almost everyone goes in the winter)...couple other cars there, so we knew we would be seeing people. There was a group there rigging up when we arrived, did the whole "how's it going" thing, but found them not too interested in talking...that's fine. The funny thing was though, as you could see them get quiet, and move a lot faster when they saw we were flyfishing too.

We took our time and found the first run above the bridge open when we got there. Fished for a while, and then started moveing upstream. We finally ran into them a couple runs up, and the moment they saw us, you could see them reeling in and running upstream to beat us to the next pool. We just laughed and fished the pool they left. This actually happend a few more times that day, and it never really bothered us, but I'm betting it did them. We joked hopeing to see them around the next corner, so we could see their reaction. My buddy actually wanted to jump 3 or 4 runs ahead of them (which is totally fine etiquette in my books), but decided to just let it be.

Was actually expecting to come on here the day after and see someone post a report about lack of etiquette from our group, and how we kept trying to poach their water even though they were there first. It's all about perspective.

Sometimes we just need to relax, and put yourself in the other person's shoes. Just because you're heading up or down stream doesn't mean that you get first dibs. Sometimes people take 'etiquette' too far.

Hey Tim............................ I remember we did well regardless and as you say got a laugh out of it. Sometimes you can do everything right and still meet people who just don't get it. I also recall the scoth and beer went well at days end!

  10. dont cheep out get the honda 3000 i have had mine for 5yrs now not a ounce of problem i know they are twice the price but well worth it you can run your ac on 30 amp breaker charge your batteries with 10 amp build in charger and a tank of fuel will last you all weekend and the most important thing you wont piss off the people you are camping next to.

I am looking at the honda 3000is. Would like to find one used with a few hours on it.

  11. Interesting. One thing to remember - if you want it to run your A/C you will need at least 2000W. 1000W isn't going to cut it. I've got the Yamaha 2400iS which starts the A/C on my trailer no problem, my buddy has the 2000W Hyundai and that starts his A/C (13,500 BTU) as well, which I was somewhat surprised but it did it. The max load will be when you first start up the A/C unit as everything is trying to go at once and trying to get the compressor going. Once the A/C is up and running the generator will ramp back down and just hum along.

Yeah I need 2000 watts plus..............

The AC uses a lot of juice at start up for sure and mine is 13 500 btu. I like the yamaha 2400is but it looks like it does not have a 30 amp receptacle. I know I could use an adapter.

The quieter the better for sure.

Crowsnest, where did you pick yours up?

Red, where did you pick yours up?

  13. Thanks for all the input. The unit needs to be an invertor as they are quiet and made for camping. The kipor would be a third, forth choice, but they do make quiet invertors and not just industrial units. I would never take a loud unit out camping as I have more respect than that.

Good idea on Blackfoot Motorsports...............will check there.

    thanks

  14. Looking at buying one soon and checking on others opinion if you own one. The Yamaha and Honda speak for themself but are very expensive!!!!!!!! May still lean this way. Also, reading about Kipor. Any thoughts???? Need to buy something that can run my AC unit on the trailer and still be able to service locally.

    Thanks

  15. Wow you guys sure know how to hijack a thread!

The bloke that wants to buy the sage said he has not cast it and cannot where he is considering the purchase.

Why does it matter if I have cast the sage, I am not buying one!!

It seems to matter as you are judging something without valid reason. ( unless you did cast the rod in question) I thought that was my question??????????

  16. I'd keep your current string of rods and skip the sage, although I am sure many of these experts on here will tell you the reason to blow $800 on a rod.. It is all percieved value on anything above the price of a TFO.

Edit: I casted a Orvis hydros and no doubt that this is the best rod for the dough, for my cast anyways. Save a few hundy from the sage and go hydros.

Curious??? Did you even cast the rod in question? The Sage that is.
