UMMM.... Anybody go fishin' today?

You guys are right.... His intent was malicous and knew exactly where he was and should that post not have provided him with an opprtunity to possibly kill someone he may have have just stopped and two handed the guy in the head. What else do you do when you get beat????? The comment about awarness and intent is rediculous.... have either of you never banged your head on a table or something in your home while distracted at that immediate momment? you've probably spent many days in your home with that particular object in the exact same location... you know where I'm going. Had the interference occurred behind the blue line we wouldn't be discussing this... This is more an issue with the where it took place than the act. At least once a game in every level of hockey a player gets beat and decides to take the body resulting in an interference call. Unfourtunatley a giant post metal post happened to be in the way resulting in a tragic injury. The nhl has made it crystal clear to its officiating staff that upon significant injury resulting from an illegal act a 5 minute major and a game misconduct will be assessed. This allows the league to review the play and make an appropriate decision, they did! Its was fair and just!!! Now comes the real issue...... why are these glass partitions is place anyways? To protect coaching staff from errant pucks? To segregated irate coaches/players from each other? For Pierre McGuire? It wasn't so long ago that similar issues were discussed, resulting in a mandatory helmet rule, and arenas now built to spec that allow both boards and glass to flex. In the old Boston Gardens you would never go in the corner (Swedish or not) for fear of being killed between Ray Bourqe or one the the many Norris winning defense man that patrolled the Blue line over the years at the gardens. I hope the league will review the need for these in nhl arenas and have them removed. B's cup champs 2011!

bammbamm, Here's a few really good video's 1) rio's modern spey casting, http://www.rioproducts.com/product.php?recKey=120. 2) Ed Ward's Skagit Master, http://skagitmaster.com/. Last time I was @ Fish Tales they had em both. I'm also relatively new to spey casting and have learned a pile from the these 2 video's. But these video's won't correct your inital bad habits nor give you feed back as to what you're doing right or wrong.... So as Uber mentioned shoot Colin ( CDONE ) or Greg ( Toolman ) a pm a get out on the water with em! Both these guys have set ups they can bring along for you to use. I would hesitate to buy a line for your rod untill you've atleast learned to shoot some line. There are so many different weights and lengths of both heads and full lines it will only confuse this *hit out of you!!! Once you can you've learned a few basics Fish Tales has a few skagit and scandi kits at the store you can take out to find the perfect line/head for your rod. It's a great way to dial in your rod and not spend $100's of dollars by trial and error buyin' heads you think might work and end up not loading your rod! Check out the link below from rio's web site that explains the often difficult to comprehend spey line categories etc... http://www.rioproducts.com/photos/file/Und...ines%202011.pdf I also have a TFO 425 with backing and brand new running line I need to part with... shoot me a pm if you're interested and maybe we can make a plan to get out on the river together. The picture is a stock photo I poached but the reel is the same colour just a wee bit larger. Craig

Found myself a Bob Clay 12' 300-350 grain trout spey!!! The bad news is I wont see it till this time next year... it's gonna be like I was 6 years old on Christams eve for the next 365 days. Fourtunatley the next year will allow me enough time to accrue the cash and not have the wife find out!!!

fruinincalgary replied to fruinincalgary's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
That's Amazing Dutchie!!! I have some friends coming to visit in both spring and summer........ check your pm's...... I'm sure at that price it'll fill up quick! Thanks -
My original plan was to buy a pre-owned drift boat.... Then I went and added a beautiful baby girl to the family in Oct!! So now I can't really justify the cost of the boat vs the time I'll have to spend on it over the next few years. Does any body rent boats in town? I have paddled and would put myself in a capable class, by no means and expert. Thanks in advance Craig

I've been using switch rods for overhead casting for a few years now, only the last few months have I jumped intop spey. I have an 11' Greys Grxi 6/7, closer to a 5/6 IMO and run an WF7F Airflo40+ on it and love it for bombing nymph rigs n' streamers. I also have a Custom built with removable 4" butt Amundson 11 3/4 with a 6wt 40+ great for skiddin' stones. I have only played around with single handed spey casting on these.

X2 on tha Exodus..... If Im on a big hike I rock both tha Exodus pack and hip pack. The hip pack provides additional back support and serves as a wading belt.

I've recently purchased a vintage split can spey rod, 30's Hardy Hebridean 13'9" and lookin to match it up with a silk line. Typically I would just go pick up the kit from fish tales and dial a rod in, but in the case of silk line I'm sure one doesn't exist. I'm thinkin a ten weight line matched with this rod would be great? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, even better if somebody had such a line I could cast? Is there any store locally that I could purchase it from? Thanks

He's A German Shorthaired Pointer..... And funny enough the only time he chills is when my rod is in the water!! He wont leave my side or whomever is on tha river with me that given day. The only downside to it is..... if water temp is low, so goes his core temp and he wont get out. He just shivers and stay put, some days are cut short... but id rather have a few short days with Dave than one without him.

Got out Sunday in the rain.... Didnt see another person all day!!! A few more from weeks past....
