  1. Where abouts did ya fish the Little Red Deer? Im headed up Sun and Mon... along the forestry trunk road. Last night was a blast .... we did'nt see many risers but it should'nt be long till all the trouts are lookin' up.... a huge olive hatch to start. Rufus was covered in em, saw a few huge caddis.... flashback pt nymphs, evil weevils and caddis pupa seem to the drug of choice as of late.... I've been swingin' em below the leech. Fish are definitely movin' up into the faster water and much more aggressive on takes. Lookin' forward to the next few weeks as the river starts to come alive. Thanks again Rufus good ta meet ya, and we'll get out again soon. Keith, looks like we're up next shoot me a pm and we'll make a plan.
  2. My wife wears the Orvis waders (http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=0G2X&dir_id=758&cat_id=5599), she's about 5'9". If you would like to try em out for a day....I'm sure she would have no problem with it. Craig
  3. I currenty have an Airflo 40+ WF7F.... great for the single hand stuff, found out pretty quick it's not a switch line. Gonna try the Beulah Tonic 320 on it.
  4. I can highstick it if I want. It's not a czech nymphin' rod but..... I'll use it as one from time to time.
  5. I was out Fri night (Apr 30), chucked some streamers with my new rod!!! CDONE custom built me this bad boy, the Amudson 11' "trout spey" and what a job he did Ive been lookin for sometime to find a light switch with a removable butt and no luck. Dave a fishtale put me in touch with CDONE (Thanks Dave) and voila....I got a light switch with the removable butt. Most fish came on the trailing nymph ( #18 evil weevil) did get a few on a # 8 brown leech. Any way...... on to tha porn That last brown taped just over 23".... took me into my backing twice! what a way to break in the new rod. If anybody is lookin' for a custom job his work is nothin' short of fantastic, as you can see. Thanks Colin!
  6. Happy B-Day Mike, Have a gooder
  7. I picked up a 8wt winston ascent ( http://www.winstonrods.com/flyrods/caliber/ascent ) Fished most of what run off we had last year with it , and love it. Great for bulls and chuckin' streamers. I put an airflo 40+ type 7 on it sinks like a rock.
  8. Fly fishin' + meetin' new people + learnin' new skillz = Awsome. Add a few cold beer and ya can't go wrong!! Bhurt, We're up next week.... you good fer Wed? PM me and we'll make a plan. Craig
  9. FNG and I were out tonight!!! We were nymphin' from 4:30 till 6:30...... SKUNKED...... Then, the wind shut down so we went on the hunt fer trout snout. Found em'!!! Here's a few pics from our night. We had a blast (and a few beer to) !!!!! Lookin' forward to every Wed night fer tha rest o' the summer.
  10. Lady, I'm pickin up that same stick next week ..... lookin' forward to it!!! Mike, Let's say In my match-up with Lady we agree to go head-to-head with our switch rods? Any objection?
  11. Well..... I guess i'll just have to tell the wife that "rules are rules" so I'm gonna have to buy that new Echo Freshwater 2 stick by next week so I can comlpy with the league rules. This really sucks
  12. What's with the max rod length? This is a formal grievance. !!! You out fished me with a 9'.
  13. Has anyone fished the Demon cartridge reels? Or.... any cartrige reel? If ya factor in the cost of a couple spare spools on other reels this seems like a steal!!!! Even if ya burned out a few cartridges they're reel cheap to replace I guess what im lookin' for is.... how does a cartridge hold up when a reel big fish is rippin' line off ur spool vs a machined spool. Thanks in advance.
  14. An Epic afternoon!!!! I lost count of the fish I landed, 2 came on a # 18 pt nymph all others on dries (midge and bwo). Only 1 bow and at least a dozen brown's Biggest was 24" Here's a few pics.
  15. Got out a few times over the weekend...... Fishin' was great!!
  16. I'm in fer sure. Darrin...... there is no way the wife is gonna let ya out the house.
  17. Thanks!!! I appreciate the offer. However a medium is big on me. I have an old pair of neoprene waders I am currently wearing but as a result of the hotter weather this week, they smell like my hockey equipment which hasnt been washed in 3 years. It may be cold enough in the mornings that they will be warranted anyways. Craig
  18. Last week I dropped the seat of my truck seat onto the boot of my waders, the clasp that grabs the rail once the seat is in place went right through the bloody thing. (stupid!!! I was in a hurry) I don't have time to send em' off to Montana to be repaired, so.... I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction. Is there any body in town that will replace the boot of my wader in a weeks time? Thanks Craig
  19. It was you that showed me!!! We'll head back there. What ya up to Sunday?
  20. Been givin' er on the bow the last week, some fantastic fishin' in the city. Thought I'd share this hawg of a bow with everybody, taped out just over 24 1/2. Quality of the pic is poor sorry, but this is one big ol' broonie. another! back ya go big feller Thick highwood cutty A wee bullie
  21. It is an addiction Kinwashkly, WELCOME. This forum is a fantastic place for advise and a great place to meet other people who share your addiction. You could equate it to AA except...we encourage consumption of everything "flyfishing". I am by no means mocking your question so If you have taken it wrong I appologize. If it wasn't for questions asked here, I would be catching far less than I do today. However, Pipestone 's comment is the truth. I've spent the last week kissin' ass with the wife cuz my new rod showed up @ the door and she got home before me. I laughed to myself in the office for about ten minutes when I read the post, even harder when I realized that the other rod hadn't show up yet and was thankin' myself that I had it shipped to work so she wouldn't find out. If ya wanna take a couple rods out a chuck em' around I have a few and would be happy to let ya try whatever I got. The best piece of advice in purchasin' a new rod is to hit the stores and cast a few about. You wont know what ya like till' ya try it. There are a pile of great shops in town that will let ya demo rods.
