    Bow Brown

What a magnificent specimen....and the fish is nice too! We need to change the boat's name to "Always Starts"
  2. Sorry about Bear Steve. He looked like quite the character. Lots of great photos for the memory bank. Love your creek photos. I recognize some of the rocks.
  3. Have a great day. Soon you can officially join Clive's geezer team
  4. Shimano acquired G. Loomis Inc. in 1997 as it launched an Action Sports Division
  5. So sad Jared. Some people just need a quick slap upside the head. How hard is it for guys in boats to NOT cast over water where a shore fisherman's line is? They are floating with the next spot only yards away and miles of river to travel. Pull your lines out and cast on the other side of the boat for 30 yards (there's a chance for a fish there too). If boats float over a spot that a guy is dry fly fishing in I think things are going to get really testy. You don't have to row the boat that far to give some room, and then just don't cast on top of someone. Respect is an easy thing to offer. Guides are in a position to set the right example and teach new fishermen...hopefully greed doesn't win over the right thing to do
  6. I believe Shimano bought Loomis. Mr. Loomis now works for Temple Fork
  7. Two of the fish I caught yesterday on dries had old hooks in them. One nice brown had a clouser stuck in his left pectoral fin. There was a large lump around the hook and a bunch of melanin (black pigment) had been released around the area and stained a big, black stripe down his golden fin. Another rainbow had a stonefly nymph stuck in it's back end. Localized inflammation is an immunological response to a foreign body/injury to the flesh. Darn fly fishermen are trying to poach via snagging.
  8. Most likely from hook wounds
  9. We are all very proud of you Rick....you are an addict. Now you need to start collecting lake flies so you can triple you fly collection
  10. Great story. She looks like she is still full of eggs.

    Nymph Setups

I tie an inline perfection loop for the top one and then a short snell to the fly. I am so old school...me and my neoprenes
  12. Nice beak on that char
  13. Sight fishin', doesn't get any better
  14. Great muddy water browns Max

    Gold Chunk

Took his picture on the second hook-up of the day. First time he ate the worm
  16. Well done, personal bests are a great thing
  17. Good show Dustin...sounds like fun. Did you get to see the hits?
  18. Best to fill the bladders just before going to the water. Changes in temperature can cause pressure changes in the bladders. Warm air to cold water can make bladders soft. Full bladders left in a warm vehicle may expand and rupture. There is a chance you have a leak in your bladders if they went down a lot. There is some history of the welded seams leaking in Fish Cat 4s. Fill the tube at your house and let it stand at a constant temperature for a few hours to see if you have a leak. Anchors....tie a rope from one side of the boat (off plastic D rings), around behind the seat, and then tie off on the other side. Make it slack enough so that the this rope can stretch back near to the point. Now you can tie off an anchor rope to this rope (I also tie my net off to this rope). I use an 8lb rubberized dumb-bell weight from Walmart. Get some 1/4-5/16" cord for your anchor line (can wrap it around the dumbbell). I tied single knots in the line at 5 ft marks to give me an idea of water depth. Flippers...go to a dive shop and get some diving fins that slip over your sock foot waders. They move way more water and you can go way faster than with force fins or other fins used over boots. There will be some water(couple of inches) in the back compartment. I have a wet bag the size of a sleeping bag that I store stuff in.
  19. Ice packs to the bottom, hair dryer to the top....pull/twist....nothing. So I just got mad and starting really flexing the joint like I was trying to snap it in half....slips apart. I agree to not adding anything to the joint as it will collect debris. I'm off to the water...got a date with an 8lber
  20. First time it's happened in 10 years...just lucky I guess
  21. Ok, I'll try hot and then cold. Thanks for suggestions
  22. My 2 piece rod has now decided it wants to be a one piece. It was separating a bit on the lake the other day and I pushed it together while on the water. I tried the old "behind the knees" separation pull, but it didn't budge. Anyone got a trick for separating rods?
  23. Looks great. I'd try it on a straight hook...might come through the water better when stripping
  24. Onchorynchus 'mericanus indeed
