  1. Be happy to. My schedule is kinda messed up, so we'd have to see what would work. Let me know man.
  2. Haven't had anything but good experiences there. great shop from what i can tell.
  3. Really nice pics! I wish that I could take underwater shots like that. But if I tired, I'd ruin the camera that my wife got me for Christmas, and then I'd be dead. Or single.....or both.
  4. I picked up the Cortland444SL WF5F. I do believe it was $46 at Wholesale Sports. Wonder her on for me and all. Tried casting it when I got home and it made a world of difference. I look forward to me next trip to try it on the water.
  5. You need to clean your line?
  6. Nice man! Sounds like you had a great morning!
  7. Awesome, so I don't need to spend $60 or more to get a good fly line. Nice.
  8. I have a TFO 9' 2-pc. 5wt rod that came as an outfit with reel, line and all. After going out the other day with leadhead and bigbadbrown, I was able to try out one of lead's older rods once we determined that my reel was buggered. What I discovered is that his rod felt much smoother casting than mine, and I asked the guy at Wholesale who was re-backing my spool, if the line was any good. His words were "There's worse, but its not bad". I am thinking that I want to get a new fly line as mine appears to sink at the tip (water logged maybe?) and it didn't really cast as smooth as lead's old rod. So my question is, what fly line gives you the best bang for the buck? Right now I am only using the 5wt to fish trout. Not looking at really doing much else at this point so I don't require a sinking or sink tip line. What are your thoughts?
  9. They were. Thankfully I was able to get the reel fixed. Evidently the backing was wound on so tight that it was bowing the spool so that it was rubbing on the reel body like a disc brake. They re-wound it with some new backing at no-charge. Pretty good service.
  10. That was just too :$*%&: cool! LOL
  11. Nice! Now check your pm's.
  12. I fully intend on doing that on the days where I don't have an invite to go out on a boat with some dudes on the Bow.
  13. Chris, empty your inbox dude, I can't reply to your message!
  14. vid removed at request of the subject matter.
  15. My first strike! Fought like hell with that thing.....only to find out later that my reel was :$*%&: ! My first Rainbow, not bad for a noob! Chris hooks another....I think that was three on the day for him. And this little bugger decided to hitch hike home on my jacket! Found him after I got home with the kids in the car. All in all, it was a great day. I could have used a little less wind, I hope that it died down for Chris and Mike after I left. Thanks again guys! I hope we can go again soon! Darrin
  16. Many thanks to Mike (leadhead) and Chris (bigbadbrown) for taking me out on the Bow today! I had an awesome time, except for that damn wind! Makes the casting even harder for a rookie to learn! I'll get the double haul once I am done learing the basic fly cast...... Here are some pics from our day. Beatiful Day for a fishin' trip! Mike and Chris surveying the water. Mike lands the first Rainbow of the day. Chris hooks his brown. And what a brown it was! 24"+ !!
  17. All I do is plug my camera in using the USB cable that came with it, and use windows explorer to open a new window to view them. Then I just highlight all the pictures from the Card and use the "Move Selected Files" or whatver its called, and move them from the card to the hard drive. Does both jobs at once. Copies the pictures to the Hard Drive and erases them from the card. Simple.
  18. Not that I am biased or anything, well, yes I am. I work at Honda West. My vote is for the Civic, for obvious reasons. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I can also get you a pretty good deal.
  19. Alrighty, I guess I won't be wasting my time afterall, which is good to know. Know I just need to decide on where to go. I won't do the Bow after my last two failed attempts, and considering that I am just learning, I will try somewhere different. I was thinking the Sheep.
  20. Ok guys, honest answer to a likely retarded question. I have seen numerous threads on here praising the kind of fishing that one can do in the early hours of the day along with some great fishing in the early/late evening. I have Friday off, and am planning on spending the bulk of the day somewhere (haven't decided where yet) in the water. Here's the problem. I have to have my kids to daycare by 8:30 - 9:00 in the morning and then have to be back or done by 5:00 so that I can get the kids. I know that this may sound stupid, but will I be able to catch anything during those hours or am I wasting my time? PS - Any advice on where to go?
  21. Yeah, so that whole "I'll feel a lot more confident the next time I go out" thing I said....well that went to s**t in a real hurry. Lost three flies in a span of 15 minutes. Wow was I pissed. Not only was I really degected, but I was annoyed at having to get my hook out of the damn bush every cast. Tried dry flies (lost two) and a streamer (lost one), so needless to say, I am feeling quite discouraged, but I am NOT giving up. I just think that the Bow is too high and too fast for a beginner right now. I need to stick to some other areas where it may not be so high or so fast so that I can get some confidence up not only in my casting, but in fly fishing in general. I have Friday off this week, anyone interested in showing me the ropes? And teaching this poor ignorant fool.
  22. Sorry, I guess I am functionally challenged. Do the streams that lead into the reservoir have any fish in them? No mention of that in the other thread. I can reasonably assume that couldn't I? If one went into the Weaselhead area, could anything be found in there?
  23. Or, someone could check these out if they have your size. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/4359,10...gh-For-Men.html
  24. I do believe bhurt mentioned that he was going to pick his up at Wholesale Sports.
  25. I saw a couple of guys walking along Glenmore on my way home from work yesterday, with rods in hand, crossing the bridge that goes over the resivoir. Then, as I was exiting to 14th, I noticed a couple of other dudes actually fishing on the bank of it. Are there actually fish in there?
