  1. Some good news some bad,

The good, i was able to get the paint off of the storage area by just rubbing it with thinner worked well.

    Bad news,

The paint on the hull never really went hard it was a little soft. Its been on for over 2 months now.So off to the paint experts and ask some questions. The fellow i talked to said that i had most likely put the first coat of paint on to thick so the surface had dried before all the chemicals could flash out.I looked at him and said i have to sand it all off don't I.He replied maybe but if i left it in the sun after a light sanding that may do it.

So while i was there i got a gallon of paint since i wasn't gonna use the same stuff so color change again lol.

So i tried the sand and sun thing but it just wasn't happening i had put just to much paint on.Time for the power sander.

Back to the inside,i FG over the seams of the bench supports and coated ever thing one last time with epoxy.

1 coat of primer applied with THIN coats ha ha and some more sanding.

Next up ,painting for the last time hopefully.

    Almost done... :drinked:

  2. I'm not sure what FNG is saying but all i do is copy the Direct link and paste it in the insert image.

If i want to make it larger or smaller i go to my image resizer first and adjust there then download the adjusted sized pic to my image shack.

    Nice pic's.

  3. #6 skid bitch is about the smallest size of fly I've been trying to throw. The 1st line I tried was junk, not the rod's fault. But even lining up with the headstart hasn't produced much ability. It might just not be a rod with the 'get up and go' to be a pike stick...we'll see what happens with the pike taper. I find the action, even with lighter flies, to be very snappy and annoying. I don't like ultra fast tip action rods, and this one sure seems to land squarely in that pile.

Sounds to me that its just to heavy for them scrawny arms of yours, maybe try something a little lighter perhaps something like this.

Maybe one day you'll be big enough for that stick, but for now you should start out small.

    Your welcome..

  4. Like I said if this was the chemical or nuclear Industry and a spill was the issue no excuses would get you off the hook. When you put together a preventative maintenance program you need to consider all risks. They need to do better. Fines are warranted...

I guess its not so much the flow its the silt that its bringing down, maybe an annual wash of goat could have stopped this.post-2125-1312173660.gif

  5. I'm guessing that wouldn't be the case otherwise Canmore wouldn't be getting any power now. We're at peak usage season from everyone cranking their A/C and the grid appears to be able to handle it even without these two generators running since there haven't been any rolling brownouts.

Ya i'm not sure what dam it is thats down,i think theres 3 ., rundle 3 sisters snd spray with spray being the biggest at 103MW rundle is 50 and 3 sisters is 3MW. Or so goggle says.

  6. When we plan a project at work we do a risk assessment - what can possibly go wrong and what we can do to prevent, mitigate, and work around. Their contingency plan should've been something along the lines of "if we take this generator down and while it's down the other one fails then _We fill up spray reservoir._____" or "if the higher than average snow pack combines with heavy rain then _We spill into goat creek.________". At the very least before taking the first generator down they could've done a full assessment of the other one to make sure it would handle the load. Not sure if this sort of thing was done since there seems to be very little coverage or awareness of this outside the fly fishing community.

    Plan B

let the water flow as normal fix it in the fall and the residence of Canmore don't get any power till then.

Edit too add i no nothing about power generation nor do i work for TA.

And to those that are affected financially because of this and want to be compensated,i say suck it up and go find other work. Its what thousands of other people do when there source of income has a set back.

    Friggen hot weather!!

  7. I'm looking for a 4wt 10'.With the recent drop in price what should they be worth?I looked on e bay there anywhere 300-350US.Is this the same or has it dropped?

I'm in no hurry, will the price drop much?Should a guy grab one or will these be around for awhile?

    Thanks

  8. I see theres a new sign at the Police launch about keeping your wading gear clean. The only thing is its easy to remove ,i give it a month before someone steels it or by looking at some of the guys backing in there they'll run over it.

The post board that was at the old Police lot was a good one, 2 big posts in the ground and a plastic cover over the plywood. We'll need something like that, it seemed to last.

  9. Mike, not sure how feasible this suggestion is, but any way you can take it apart, strip it and redo it?! I have a feeling you'll be waiting a very long time and it might be faster to redo it!!

No the lid was screwed and glued down.I now have a 16 X 8 opening to get my hands into.

    Its not gonna be fun.

  10. Here is what I have never understood about fish in plunge pools: If fish are intercepting stuff that falls into the pool, then why the need to get down so fast? The real stuff falling into the pool isn't lead weighted to drop like the proverbial stone! I know that heavily weighting works, but I've never understood exactly why if the fish are truly in an active ambush mode. I think mostly the fish on bottom are somewhat inactive and just reacting to the easy meal that just plunged in front of their face. Sort of a "I don't know how you got down here so fast, but what the hell, free food."

My take on this,Current is going to pull your rig out of the zone so weighted stuff gets in there and will stay a little longer i find anyway.

  11. the thinner should evaporate slowly in time. id say to put a fan on it but then you will blow dust in and get a bunch of fish eyes.....no pun intended.

    epic build over all!!!

I've had a fan on it for a couple of days now and no change and yes theres dust all over it but no biggy its just the storage area.Lets hope it drys some time this year lol.

  12. Well i have the bench supports and front storage all glued in.Playing with the bench.

I've got a question for the paint experts....I put a coat of paint on the inside of the bow storage area about 6 days ago and it still hasn't dried. There was some thinner added to it when i painted the underside about 2 months ago.

How em i gonna fix this or will it dry eventually?

  13. IMO - it would be a great start if they made the river a fly fishing only river , to the Carseland wier ! ( i know , somewhat biased . But they do it elsewhere don't they!) Afterall , with all of the stars lined up correctly , which they happen to be regarding location , the Bow river's Blue Ribbon fishery is not much less than a miracle right!!

    You kidding right?

The large gape curved SJW hooks do more damage then spin casters and bait fishers i'll bet .

  14. Ok so your not talking about the side channel thats a couple hundred yds down from police right? The next ones would be by the lama farm the next ones from there would be just down from must be nice the house with all the trees in straight rows on the south side. The next one would be across from the cotton wood golf course. So its one of the 3 yes?If its only 10 feet down from an island then it should be easy. Some one will find it now that we have a better location.
