Depends on what I am using the rod for. For example, The bow I would use a 6wt Double Hander / Dries on the bow I would use either a 5wt or 6wt single hand (Not cofiedent enouh yet to lay my line out to be effective with the double hander) On the crow, highwood, sheep, etc.... I would use a 3wt, unless I am hunting bull trout which I then use a 8wt skagit two hander for this. Really depends on what you plan on using it for, its all about having the right tool for the right thing.

I belive you can take a private casting lesson with Fishtales for 35/hr min 2 hr. Give them a call and find out, great bunch of people there.

I just picked up the new serria waist highs and I am absoultly loving them.

I am probably going to get shot for saying this but you want distance with as little wear and tear on the body, then go to a two hander, most beginners can get out anywhere from 30 to 40 feet with little effort, my cofrtable distance right now with a two hander is about 60 feet. For the cutty streams and smaller rivers a single hander all the way, double haul if need but you will need to practice it. Take your rod to a large feild and just tie on a piece of yarn, no hooks needed for this practice. Practice a double haul, haul out while d loop is forming behind you give it line, then stop aburtly take back the line you gave come forward like throwing a football and let the line rock out. After 2 months of 10mins a night practice I am starting to get a pretty decent double haul going.

To me the three basic things a new fly fisher MUST do in order to get better is three basic simple things. 1) PRACTICE Alot of people think there is soemthing magical you need to know or do to become a great fly fisher. Well they are ALL wrong. Just like everything else we doo in life the more we practice the better we get. This means the more time you spend on the river actually fly fishing, the better you will become. 2) COFIDENCE This is more mental then anything practical. You gotta believe in what you are doing and work towards mastering it. It also helps catching fishing when you go out with the cofidence that you are going to successed. 3) INSECTS Knowing what the fish eat in the area that you fish is also a huge thing. The fish will more likely eat your fly if it is what they are feeding on. You do not nessassary (even though it will help you huge) all the insects out there but if you can match it up as close as possible to what they are feeding on then you should start catching some trout. Sure you can break down what type of cast you should be doing weather you should be dry fly or nymphs or streams but I would suggest taking one thing, learning it and then going out with the right fly, with cofidence and practice it till you master it. When I started out I did a three year program (in year three now) YEAR ONE: Basics Started out nymphing and just learning in general how to fish YEAR TWO: Streamers and some dry flies was my main focus even though I did do alot of nymphing everything new I was learning and practicing revolved around Streamers and Dry Fly Year THREE Insects, Insects, Insects and perfecting everything else. Another thing that might help out is by keeping a journal of every outting. Don't try to but in a ton of info just the basics, ie: weather conditions, hatches, water conditions, what flies used, where the fish were caught in the run (head, mid, tailout), etc....... Hopefully this will help you out some.

Here is what I am doing now. In the winter time I wear my chest highs (more for warmth then anything else) In the spring and summer months I will be wearing weist highs (going to be buying the new seriia wist high at whole sales) just so I don't sweat like a mother ****er. But here is the thing, generally I do not get into the water, for most people I see wading into the water they wade out far enough that they are standing ontop of the fish. Generally I never really go out past my knees, so when I am in the city and close to home I will wet wade and when I am else were waders. I generally wear waders for those areas of water that I have to cross that are sometimes deep. Hope that helps you some.

90% of my shoping is out of Fish Tails (It could do to the fact that I do live 5mins away from there) I find the staff there very friendly and the service is top notch. As for the other shops in town I have no beef with them as I really don't spend much money anywhere else.

As many of my friends know I am usally not bothered by the flies (One of my nicknames when I coached football was LORD OF THE FLIES) but let me tell you this, this month they are just driving me absoultly crazy, one night they were so bad that I had to call it for the evening cause I just couldn't take it anymore......

Max buddy those were some great times fishing last month, I remeber netting that huge 29 for you, man that was hilarious, getting out in the water almost to my waste in muddy water can't see *hit, I think I missed the brown then a clunck lifted the net and there it was, I almost *hit myself when I saw the size of it. The funniest experince last month I had with yeah bro was when we werer fishing I think you were on the cell with LK and then you heard me crash and you looked over and all you saw was my head sticking out of the water, hiliarious. Well hopefully our crow trip will be good and the next month be better then last month! BTW I like alot of those photo's *wink*

Rich, The launch was open for drift boats but I heard through the grape vine that there was some damages done to it during the rain storm, don't know 100% cause I haven't seen it, but I do know it is open. Be careful as I have heard of experince rowers having some difficult pulling into the launch as it is in a swift current, if my source is telling the truth then I have heard of some very experince guides having to pull their boats back upriver to get to the launch cause they over shot it! Anyways maybe take a quick look at it.

I broke two rod tips last month by smacking clousers into them!

Well I live in Lake Bonavista and thefishing in that lake (private) is okay, big fish but dumb as hell and for the most half are all "MARSHMELLOW" trout, which means they will eat just about anything that lands infront of them. I do have acess to Bonaventure Lake and is okay at times but out of the two I would pick Bonavista, but like Sundancer said, you need to live in the community to get into Lake Bonavista and to get into Bonaventure Lake you either need to live on the lake or very near. Never fished the other lakes but why would you if you have the Bow so close. Since I have started fishing the Bow three years ago I just can't see myself fishing Bonavista or Bonaventure anytime soon.
